Today, LegendaryCraft posted a "Warning to other Servers" regarding stealing their ideas and him threatening to shut servers down. I don't really play on this server, other than know it exists (checked it out once or twice), I just know they have a ton of people who play on it.
Lateley, LegendaryCraft has been viewed as an example to follow, people want to have servers like LegendaryCraft. This doesnt mean that they need to compleateley rip off all our content and ideas that I developed. This goes to servers like obsidiancraft, legacycraft and godworld.
I came up with the rank names and benefits Myself from SCRATCH.
I designed the server information logos, the site design was done by Enjin.
The shop system was my idea and I paid Enjin to develop it. You can ask enjin about this.(I have no problems with people using it.)
The api uses content developed by LegendaryCraft
Our voting system is OURS and made from the ground up by LegendaryCraft.
Protection systems were developed 100% by LegendaryCraft, this includes plugis like /shout, hidelogin, fenceProtect, redProtect, voting and upcomming EXP plugin.
I filed the registrations of all the above content. The name "Legendary" is 100% mine. I have the company name "Legendary" (The hollywood company is "Legendary Pictures"). So changing a few images in the voting, or some colors in the ranks wont make you get away with this as I will shut you down. It is very easy to download a site's code.
Just a warning.
No one will come close to us by copying us. Be creative.
The claim to the name "Legendary" for everything Minecraft is pretty ridiculous. But forget that for a second. Then I see this claim: I have the company name "Legendary" (The hollywood company is "Legendary Pictures")

Legendary Pictures is known for movies you've probably seen such as The Hangover, Inception, The Dark Knight, and several others.
Now, I can see that legendaryservers.com is related to LegendaryCraft, which apparently was banned from these forums for posting fake customer reviews, and doing a whois on legendaryservers.com points to an individual, Felipe Preciado. None of which seem to be a key person of Legendary Pictures, according to Wikipedia. His user on legendarycraft.com is felipe, so I'm going to guess that felipe is Filipe Preciado.
At a glance, it seems this filipe guy is blowing a bunch of steam, but I'm wondering if somebody can enlighten me, if there is any truth with what this individual is saying, or if filipe is just good at making stuff up.
Frankly, I think the guy is just blowing off steam. I have been on the server before and it isn't that great (in my own opinion), and the owner rarely did anything, other than answer questions asked by new players.
Legally speaking, it IS illegal for them to use his plugins. All plugins are his property, as stated by Mojang. I still think he could be more lenient.
I responded, and emailed Enjin about their intention to hack other servers.
Greetings,
It is my good faith belief that "LegendaryCraft", located on your servers, is in violation of your terms of service, in particular 4.1 (A), 4.1 (B ), 4.1 (D), and 4.1 (L). The offending article is located below.

In it, LegendaryCraft asserts that they are affiliated with Legendary Pictures, makers of such blockbusters as The Hangover, Inception, and The Dark Knight, to name a few. They also go on to threaten to compromise the security of any Minecraft servers they feel too closely copy their style, in order to download the source code powering those servers, and "shut them down".
LegendaryCraft was also banned from the official Minecraft forums (see below link) for posting falsified customer reviews.

I believe in good faith that LegendaryCraft represents a group with criminal intentions, who plan to execute those intentions via nefarious methods. I humbly ask that you review these people for possible violations of both your Terms of Service, and possibly local, state, and federal electronic laws.
Seeing how U.S. patent law is getting progressively more ridiculous, if they have the legal muscle to actually do it they might just get away with it. Last time I checked you still couldn't copyright frigging dictionary words, though.
I think you're understanding the legendary statement wrong, he means it as "I have the company name "Legendary" (The hollywood company is "Legendary Pictures")" as in we own 'legendary(this), 'legendary(that)' but not 'legendary pictures' because that is a different company.
The source code statement is obviously talking about other sites stealing the above mentioned html data, (the voting system)
And the 'shutting down' would be a reference to taking legal action against people who use the art or code from the site or server.
You've obviously just made a fool of yourself in front of Enjin and this forum, in an attempt to slander a good reputable server.
Would somebody welcome this guy to the internet, where theft is the norm?
ROFL! Ya Really. Grow up and find something else to ***** about eh? oh ya go ahead and pull your server..... Pandora's box has been opened and your Intellectual property is out of the bag.
This is the Internet. Where your ideas, Good or bad are added to the collective. They are now borrowed and will help advance our cyber culture to it's next stage of development.
Sharing ideas is fine, outright stealing of intellectual property is a crime, that's what copyright and licenses are for, to draw the line between inspiration and theft.
If anyone could use any idea freely several things would happen: Every video game would use the same engine, and steal art from other video games willy-nilly, and no one would ever get money from a movie because people would just put it on youtube.
There's a place to draw the line, and this is what this server owner is doing.

Don't get my post wrong. I was not condoning Theft. I whole heartedly agree with you. My point was that the internet is the new Muse.

You're really calling the same person who was banned for posted false customer reviews about his hosting business on these very forums reputable? Really? Alright, I'll do you a favor and ignore that. Your idea of reputable and mine could differ, after all. Everything's relative, and he's certainly more reputable than say, somebody who commits fraud in order to promote his business.
Oh wait.
Regarding making a fool of myself, I presented Enjin with one way they could view his wording. What you or I think he meant by it is irrelevant, they control the servers his website is on, so in the end it's up to them how they take what he said. Of course, people tend to stick to one viewpoint once they've reached it, and they heard my end of the story before his, but that isn't important.
Either way, I'm not impacted by the situation, regardless of how it swings. It isn't my website that could possibly be taken down for infringing Enjin's Terms of Service, so why would I care?
Now, that shop mod of his looks interesting. I think I'll go clone it, if you'll excuse me.
Here is the post made on their website, spelling and grammatical errors intact.

I mean, come on.
