So there is going to be a new rainforest biome. Me gusta. I checked it and it looks really good, we could even say, Alpha/Beta stylish! It's basically how forest biomes used to be: Buttload of trees and hills. But now there is more and better vegetation, vines, water pools and big trees. Oh and the kitty cats. When the ocelots have sound it will be super cool!
Me gusta as well. But adding new biomes alone won't solve this problem. Yes the jungle biomes plus the rainforest biome (if he adds one) will definitely be awesome, but with the other biomes being the way they are now, it'll just be another thing that will draw people out of the old biomes into the new ones. We don't want that, we want all biomes to be diverse.
Recently I've been loading sooo many new spawns to try and get a new world to use.
And honestly, I've seen some pretty diverse landscapes.
There are many similarities throughout the biomes, since they are after all....biomes. But after going through 100+ worlds and just looking around the spawns, I've found that there still are some very cool structures. Some reoccurring areas but still some very interesting stuff.
It could do with more elevation changes and such, but I've come across some breathtaking scenery even in the new version.

"Wow, nice beard bro..."
"Yeah, it's made of AWESOMENESS!"
Voted 'YES' - pretty much the same complaints as many here...once you get away from the mountains, everything is so damned flat! Also, I haven't encountered a single river yet (granted I do have a life outside MC, so not much time to explore).
If ore spawns are to be adjusted, I'd like to add that redstone is clogging my chests!!!
So far, I am inclined to agree with you guys, however I never experienced 1.7.3. Can some one tell me how to get it for free? and what seed should I try in particular? this, Glacier? any help would be appreciated!
EDIT: so I just downloaded Glacier from the seed bank (which is better, since you get all the new features with old terrain), and i am at a loss for words. I kept getting bored with Minecraft, but i most certainly NOT now O.O the frikken EPICNESS HURTS MY EYES! i mean, it is a little random and the biomes are choppy, the random floating islands are a bit weird. but everything else is perfect. I am now playing in 1.7 worlds from now on. WOW, I vote for your cause!
Thanks for the support. Sure, the biomes were a bit choppy, and small, but would you rather have the diversity of 1.7 or what we have currently? I hope jeb finds a way to bring back the awesomeness of the previous generator while keeping the new features. So far, even in 1.1, the terrain is way too predictable, flat, bare, and repetitive.
I've made a generator mod which currently supports the beta 1.7.3 and alpha 1.1.2_01 generators. You can find it here. Try it with the "Glacier" seed or some other cool seed and see for yourself. It's quite compatible, only replacing two small and rarely used base classes.
The next generator I'll add is the one from indev, which I've just finished deobfuscating (and what a complete pain that was!)
I remember in pre 1.8, you could notice a small hill with a single tree on it and be like, "Oh, my house is south from here!" Nowadays, I'm having to keep co-ordinates of all my builds because everything is the SAME ._. should NOT be this way. And I shouldn't have to create man made landmarks either.
why doesnt jeb and notch read this post!!? it is so popular we NEED that terrain back. i just wander around hoping there is good terrain but there never is. my sp world lsit is litterred with trashy worlds.

It's only Jeb now. By the way we're not asking for the 1.7 to make a return, but simply complaining that the current one is inferior to the past one. Thanks for supporting though.
Update: Cleaned up OP a bit more, added some things to the relevancy lists
I've seen this topic has been dying but people keep necroing it. Thank you for keeping this topic alive. Keep it that way!!!!
I am sorry to necro this thread, but I was wondering one thing. We haven't had anyone tweet Jeb about this. (Maybe we have, but no posts were made about it). I was wondering if there are any tweeting supporters of this argument that would like to tell Jeb or any Mojang employee about this. Send a link to this thread, tell them about the main ideas of this argument, or anything that will help make progress. Thanks.
I juts tried out a new snapshot and flew around a bit. The terrain was kind of like the pre-1.8 terrain. The only difference I could see was height. There were tree-sheer cliffs and snowy-sheer cliffs and mountains, but they weren't tall.
Not that this is an issue to me. I actually like the subtler terrain gen.
I miss the joy of exploring for epic-looking structures. Now everything look the same, which is boring.I miss the joy of exploring for epic-looking structures. Now everything look the same, which is boring.

Big point. Mojang stated that the adventure updates were supposed to motivate us to explore, but I don't see any point in exploring if everything is so predictable. Everything is now:
gargamel

desert

Meh, i play it all the time every once in a while. but it does get boring and i do go play minecraft but i would say no its not boring to meMeh, i play it all the time every once in a while. but it does get boring and i do go play minecraft but i would say no its not boring to me

I just care about the gameplay! :biggrin.gif:
So, is it boring to you or not? Not sure what you're saying.
Then why post or vote?
But then 1.8 arrived... With its realistic things on the world.
I like the RPG style but not the world.
Oh and i miss the boat bug that it went up on waterfalls. We could make really awesome slides with it
