Might want to rephrase or elaborate, I can't tell if it is sarcasm.
"All I see are mountains nowadays." Is the line in question. If you do find mountains, outside of extreme hills and jungles, please show some screenshots, some people would like the seed.
You meant "outside of extreme-hills, x-hills, shroom biome and jungles?

Wow, caves are even more never-ending than I thought!
I made a new world, and entered a cave when the sun started setting. I had stone tools, some coal, and some blocks.
The next day, I came out of the cave in full iron armour, and a diamond pick (I was on hard difficulty, and didn't branch mine; I just explored the cave). I'm starting to think that fixing caves is even more important than fixing terrain: the size of caves are game-breaking. This has to be fixed!
Let's see what excuses the defenders can make up about this...
Btw, has anyone tried tweeting jeb_/dinnerbone/whoever, saying that caves are game-breaking? That might interest them... or maybe they don't give a damn about it, and just want to finish the mod API, so the community can work on their game, while they sit back and enjoy the cash
I'm convinced that Mojang only hear what they want to at this point. Some of the 1900+ people in this forum must have posted enough to them directly to get the message across. The only thing that can shake them at this point is something either very stupid like a "I'm going to jump!" Youtube video or a line of picketers outside their offices.
As for the cash you mention, they have no reason to support the game now they have secured enough hype. Their profits come only from new customers who don't know that the terrain used to be the game's strong point. Now they have the attention they don't really need a good game behind it all. Take the COD series; you've played one, you've play them all yet people still line up in droves to buy it. So now, they pop in a MOD API, let the people manage themselves, still manage to break all the mods every patch, and further complaints fall on deaf ears with the simple reply: "We gave you MOD API, just get a mod", when the balance of the game, of any game, should be complete and balanced in its direct form, which is the only thing we are truly entitled to as consumers.
I'm just hoping the Xbox crowd will get the new terrain and go ape-****, as they are wont to do. They only get a small area to work in as is, and when they figure out it generates nearly the identical plot of land with one more or less tree they might get the word across. Imagine when every other map generated puts them near an endless ocean with nary a cow to be seen. They can't just "keep traveling" to find land or animals because, well, there is a large invisible wall blocking their way. The terrain just won't work at all with those constraints, so my money is on the Xbox crowd to spark the fix.
It's just sad really. I'm sure all we ask is some acknowledgement, but we haven't gotten any direct word from them despite 1900+ people all agreeing something needs to change. I always knew Mojang was good at trolling, but this is just silly.
More or less, taking pictures of extreme hills is just supporting the thread's general consensus that mountains are so selective that anything noteworthy comes from a few select biomes.
Have you even read this thread?
PS: Nice try covering up the awful blue grass with a fall texture pack.
I earlier suggested sending a petition to their office that contains all(?) of our opinions, because I reckon that it would work better and would make them think more. As of now, they seem to skip everything terrain-related and take other, less important things into the game. Only if they would listen to this like to that Emerald Ore removal controversy...
? - no idea if everything fits, nor all will agree to put them there . It's just a suggestion.
ChaosGuardian has done a good job compiling the bulk complaint into the first post. That and the poll should be enough to change anyone's mind who doesn't have an ulterior motive behind keeping terrain the same. Use that if you plan on sending some mail.
Oh! And send it along with store-bought cookies so Mojang has to see it. One thing game developers can't get enough of is free food.

Speaking of videos, another really good idea we could use is to get a famous Youtuber-Minecrafter to get to agree with us. I haven't asked many because obviously their comment sections and personal message inboxes are getting blown through the roof. Tehpauleh is off the list, he said he enjoys the new terrain. I can see Uberhaxornova on our side, but then again, our questions will be as invisible to him as a vampire looking through a mirror, plus the fact that he and many others have lost interest in Minecraft completely.
give us higher mountains and deeper valleys and more weirdness.... I mean why not a deep valley under water??? OR a volcano, OR a valley with a volcano near it with water falls and jungles deep underground???

Let's be real for a second; YouTubers don't actually know the first thing about the game. I facepalm every time I see one forget how to make a piston or a simple lever. With all the mods, adventure maps, and little time they've spent actually playing vanilla Minecraft, none would support because they've never had enough time to stop talking to themselves to look around and notice.
Most of the supporters in this thread say the same thing - that for the longest time there was something boring them; something different. They come upon this thread and jump out of their seats exclaiming "THAT'S IT! That's why I haven't had the inspiration since before 1.8!" YouTubers don't have that. They never get bored because they aren't playing the same game. YouTubers are playing YouTube; and will play any fun, boring, racy, or stupid game to get them views. (But it isn't their fault, it's YouTube's for giving them incentive).
YouTubers aren't the way to go. In fact, they could probably do more harm considering how much weight they pull and how little they really know about the game and changes to terrain.
Edit: YouTubers are volatile. They can go either way, and if they do they can do a lot with very little effort. The only way YouTube could help is if someone makes a dedicated video with examples, critical thinking, and good overall quality whose motive is more than simple views.

Kurtjmac prefers the old terrain over the new one, but I don't think it bothers him enough to fight for it... Well, we can at least try.
Well, I'm reporting that I wrote a letter. It's already enveloped and addressed, but because the most of post offices are closed on Saturdays and Sundays, I will send it on Monday 20th. I'll pay some extra money to prioritize this.
Let's just hope it won't return to me.
Sounds good to me. Thank you for your effort and support. It's good to hear we have people that are just as mad about this.

If you want to get a famous youtuber on our side, Antvenom is the one you want. He downgraded to beta 1.7 for his rebooted hunt for the golden apple series, and he said one of the biggest reasons for that was to get the 1.7 terrain.

completely.No wait, don't do that.
Mostly moved on. May check back a few times a year.
That'll be a short list of supporters on the petition. You'd have to wrap the lax-cookies in it for them to notice.

when the 1.8 update came out. i tried it and i thought\
"this game is boring. Look at it! Nothing interestng!"
This has +1 more supporter
even liked it before!
If Notch liked the terrain as it was, he should have never drastically changed it.
Also, the farlands are ruined and now theres less awesome mountins like in the Glacier seed.
