From one of my friends, he showed me classic on minecraft.net.
I stayed up the whole night playing that.
He then texted me that there was a full version, and he described it.
I stayed up the whole night watching videos of that.
I then bought it.
I stayed up the whole night playing it.
Let's see:
Youtube videos (I had NOT seen any yogscast videos when I made this account and bought minecraft)
Friends occasionally mentioning something about it
Interwebs

Well, one day I saw this series on Machinima called "How to Annoy People on Black Ops". Those videos were really funny so I decided to visit the creator's,zXNoRegretzzXz, channel and subscribed. I kept seeing Minecraft and I was like "What the heck is Minecraft?!" so I watched his videos and fell in love with them. I strongly recommend watching his videos because he's my favorite YouTuber.

I've known about Minecraft for so long and it's been so ubiquitious around the places I haunt on the internet, I honestly couldn't answer the question.
I was just surfing youtube, and somehow I got to this minecraft video (the youtube session might have started with a video about alternate dimensions, but I have no clue.) The video was of some guy and he was playing a custom map his girlfriend made or something like that. The feel that minecraft has attracted me immediately, and I started watching more and more minecraft videos. I was soon really obsessed, and I had to get it.
I first heard about it in Mexico while drowning my sorrows in internet videos. When I got back to the states, I kept seeing stuff about it on Dorkly. I figured it had to be great if I kept seeing so much stuff. I didn't buy it at first because I didn't think it ran on Mac, but then I realized it was in Java, so I tried classic. When I realized I had to pay $20 (way undervalued in retrospect) I was like, "I'm not sending money to some Swedish guy's paypal account!" left it alone for months. Later, another bout of depression made me buy it to distract me from the crushing loneliness, and you know what? It worked!
I found out about minecraft through slyfoxhound. i was seeing alot of minecraft videos on youtube, but i didnt bother touch them. one day i wanted to find out what it was, and i ran into slyfox's "queen creeper mod review" video. and then i looked at it a bit more and i got interested. then i bought it and played it.
Back when I was a huge Halo junkie, (still am) I heard about Minecraft alot. I thought it was a ripoff of forge mode and left it alone. Then I stumbled on Paulsoaresjr's videos, Optimumforge's videos, and finally got interested. My friend let me play on his account then finally, a few weeks before Minecon, I got my own account.

I found out after watching TheSydicateProject's very first video. At first (because of the blocky world 'nd stuff) I was like wtf is this 1990s game and why are you playing?? I ignored the other vids he put up for a long time before actually checking out what Minecraft was. (random) I still remember the first time i saw lava on the surface. I was frozen in place thinking, nevermind wasnt thinking, just scared.

Some people really need to stay away from the government propaganda department. Let the brain-washing machines have a day off, they must need maintenance by now.
When I found out about minecraft, and when I got interested are two separate events.
First I didn't like what I saw at all, since the picture I got was that you can only place blocks and you couldn't do anything with them (build mode).
Some months later I searched for youtube clips that would explain the basics of the game, where I noticed the survival and crafting aspect. The fact that the person tried to get hold of coal for torches and crafted his own tools and build a house to protect himself from mobs really stood out to me.
So I started watching some Swedish guy playing and didn't plan to buy the game myself because I had an important exam. After the exam I bought it.
I found out about MineCraft from a Warcraft 3 roleplay clan, personally :biggrin.gif:.
If other, please state how.

Legitimately. 3 nights straight.

It had 200+ likes and made me wonder what the hell it was.
Here's the link to the video. It's pretty damn funny.
