I don't think he/she was a troll, just someone who isn't very trusting. Or someone who has walked on this earth very long (aka 6 or 7 years old, maybe less)

Goodness me, I need to get this addiction under control...
Paypal is fine to use. I have been using it for about 6 years. You also do not need to "register" to use it.
Go through minecraft, purchase the game, go through checkout, click "paypal" and if you don't have an account, it gives you the option on the right down down side to use a Card (in this case your gift visa) just type in the details there.
As long as you see the padlock or the https (instead of http) in the title bar its a secure page. If you register with paypal, you can also you your bank account to pay instead (sort of like using the eftpos on your bank card).
Another option is to find a friend or someone willing, and transfer the money to their bank account and they can purchase it for you.
I like the way minecraft is virtual only as opposed to stores, it really is the new future, same as e-books. It cuts down on wastage and a lot of overheads for the companies and the environment.
I have honestly been using paypal for years, for everything from selling to buying :smile.gif: Another option is to create a paypal account, and sell something on ebay, asking them to pay via paypal, then you will have "dollars" in your paypal account and can use this to pay for minecraft.
Now what if Mojang or Notch Did like a thing where you bought a Minecraft GameCard at like GameStop and it had a scractchy thing on the back and under that scratch thing would be a code then you could go to Minecraft(dot)net and enter that code somewhere sorta like a gift code, and sorta like a runescape membership card. I think it would be awesome!
I had a prepaid visa gift card that wouldn't work. I assume due to the currency?(It was in USD.. and I assume a gift card doesn't convert over). I also couldn't figure out how to get the money from it on to paypal itself, so I asked someone I trusted enough to buy it for me. I sent them the money from the card, to their paypal account, and they got me a code for minecraft.
I had to have a paypal account. Set the card up on paypal. Then send the money to someone via paypal. They got the money on their paypal. Bought the code on minecraft.net. And sent me the code. I don't suggest doing this unless you have someone you can trust enough to do it with.

I'm kind of curious why people use those things anyway, they just sound overly complicated, a lot of places either don't accept them or have problems ringing them in, and they're not very popular. A Visa that's not actually a credit card because it's prepaid, except it's also a gift card. Wut?
Stop being an idiot. You are probably 10. Credit cards are very safe. One of the safest methods of payment for anything. You can use Paypal which allows you to put money into an online account to pay for it. If you are too dumb to do either of these things then please Calm down, Shut the **** up and get the **** out.

Most sites I want to buy from accept them, other than minecraft.net. Also it was a birthday present. And to be honest, I don't want a credit card. I can't afford to pay the thing back if I had one, so I find it easier to just get prepaid cards. They're actually not bad if the sites you want to buy from accepts them. You just have to buy it, activate it on the gift card website, then use it like a normal card.

Fair enough. I guess the appeal is as a gift card that works anywhere, including online, correct?

Yeah pretty much. I just don't want to mess with an actual credit card, so I find the gift cards easier to deal with. Except when dealing with minecraft.

Yes. No, and no.
What do you mean? He/she/it joined today, and thus only has 10 posts until tomorrow. Not necessarily a troll.
