why do people think that way?
after all, she made minecon so much funner for people(not me, i couldnt make it )
but, really? shes a very popular minecrafter and is alot of fun.
for the haters, creepers to you.
You know, although it's purely speculative some people
Meaning who? You?
have wondered if she had a hand in starting the Yogscast **** talk. Looking at this girl's LP videos she has to have her face on screen at all times. It's not even like she's hosting a clip show or doing a review, and even when people do that they leave their faces off the game footage. It's like she thinks people want to watch her giggle and mug for the camera. It's a sure sign of someone who is really, really full of themself.
Although it's not as popular with the gaming community, that's a prominent and completely legitimate style of vlogging. People do this all over Youtube, and in fact most non-gaming vloggers that I've encountered do this: The vlogger looking at the camera and addressing their audience directly, with perhaps some images or video spliced in for illustration. Although I wouldn't say she pulls it off very well, it's extremely rude and thoughtless to accuse someone of being conceited for using a different style of vlogging. There's nothing inherently conceited with wanting to connect with your audience in a more personal manner rather than droning on into your headset while you punch down trees.
I could easily see a girl like this while under immense stress feeling like she's been overlooked for her hard work on Minecon and becoming upset no one knows who she is while there were other more well-known Youtube Minecraft LPers around.
You're making wild assumptions about someone you don't actually know and using those assumptions to try to start an ill-founded conspiracy theory. :/
Yea that's true. Probably just jealous because she has received a great, life changing opportunity.
Precisely, the day they announced that they hired her, there was a lot of flaming, not many people knew her.
And no-one knew why she was hired, but Mojang obviously has a reason. I haven't seen her CV, but they have.
Similar hate also flowed when notch posted a pic of the whole Mojang team in their new offices. Many people raged that minecraft should be done already with such a big team, sadly mots people don't know what goes on behind the scenes of Mojang, and that Minecraft is just a part, a very lucrative part, of the whole company.
I share CM forest's opinion on this she did sound unprofessional among things. Next minecon they need a script also Notch should do the talking he made the game.
For the love of god, what the hell is a director of fun? nowhere can I find an actual description of what her job involves, just sounds like a pointless and fast decision made by notch for the sake of it. And like others say, so many more community members who can actually PLAY MINECRAFT and do something useful deserved a job at mojang.
Someone enlighten me.
She seems more like a secretary or something, or some kind of director.
During Minecon, she arranged Notch's schedule to follow and did the major presentations
None of the reasons I've seen or heard about hating her make sense, or is a valid reason.
"I don't like her because she sucks at talking"
REALLY? Just because she's not a great speaker doesn't give you a reason to hate on her. She has done nothing wrong, AT ALL, to anyone. All she's done is help people, and welcome everyone. She's the one who organized MineCon. She's one of the nicest people I've heard of.
Um..When you are a Minecraft commentator and that's what most people know you for. Being a good speaker is kind of required.
If you went to watch a Let's Play and the person's voice was raspy as **** you would probably leave a negative comment, leave a dislike, and never watch another video from that person again.
Not being a great speaker is a perfectly legitimate reason to dislike someone of her position.

Wow, lot of haters. Reminds me that most people on these forums are little kids as Minecon showed us.
Notch wanted to hire someone "fun," not someone who was professional and serious. Notch liked her and she's a really cool person if you actually talk to her(which none of you have).
If you have the right to judge someone else, maybe you should look at yourself first.

She's not a commentator, she's technically the Community Manager. Or both. And no, I wouldn't dislike a video because their voice is raspy or studdery, or hate on it. Hating on someone for a speech impediment isn't right.
Look at Robert Bowling, the Community Manager for Infinity Ward, for example. He studders a lot in his speeches, and frankly nobody gives a ****.
Still, I've yet to see a legitimate reason for someone to hate on Lydia.
P.S. The disruptions in the mic while she was making her speech annoyed me more than any noticeable speech imperfections.

All I know her as is a woman who posts YouTube videos about Minecraft. If she's anything more than that. Good for her. Don't really care.
If all you know her as is a YouTube commentator and are judging her based off that. Then yes. Not being a good speaker is still a good reason not to like her.
And Robert Bowling is hated on for everything. The guy is a douche that has absolutely no community interaction. At least none that matters to anyone. He replies to useless Tweets on Twitter to make it look like he's actually involved with the community. When in reality he actually doesn't even care. People are to busy hating on him for that ****. And I've literally never heard him stuttering.
Back to the point though. The thread is about why people don't like her. Opinions were asked for. And they were given. If you don't agree then that's fine. But don't sit there questioning everyone's opinions as if they are wrong.

A lot of signs do point towards attention whoring. I'd understand the picture-in-picture of her face if she was playing something like Amnesia. But a game like Minecraft? Facial reactions aren't really needed when vocal ones would do perfectly well enough, in my opinion.
Plus I think the pink hair and clothing don't do any favors for her skin tone, but she's free to do what she wants with her appearance.
If she was just a YouTube celebrity, I honestly wouldn't care at all. However, I'm very curious what her job qualifications are for such a large role at Mojang.
When your company has a big important event like Minecon -where attendees are spending hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars to be there- you better hire the best professional event planner for it possible... Especially if you're rich like Notch.

tl:dr, hater gonna hate, idiots gonna rage
Boobs + Internet + ttly girly = MinecraftChick
Anyone else notice the 'Director of Fun' thing?
If I was in a small company like Notch, I'd do the same thing and make useless positions
(I'm lying, socially I'm laid back but when it comes to business I get serious)

That said, there's a lot of vile attacks against her person in this thread such as people attacking her appearance.
No wonder the game's in its current state.

He's allowed to have an opinion. Whether it conflicts with yours or not is really his option.

Replace 'fun' with 'blowjob'.
Equation solved.
