If that doesn't work then compare it to the vocabulary of NOTCH.
Don't know what you're getting at but I do know Notch swears a ton (or at least from what I've gathered via an interview by c418... however he isn't the greatest person to recite conversations between two people because it'll come out warped) but Notch can most likely censor himself. We all probably say derogatory like gay and such but we tend to censor it around people who might be offended. That is what the yogscast needs to do, however even raywilliamjohnson swears a ton yet he actually censors himself within his videos.
Not sure if this has been posted yet... from Totalbiscuit's twitter:
"Heard about the drama with Yogscast at Minecon, in full support of Simon and Lewis, organisers fault for giving stage time to people that they knew full well have no qualms about using "harsh language", which is evident through their content. Don't get me started on the idea that undirected, unmalicious swearing can somehow be offensive, because that idea is ****ing stupid. Words have no inherent offensive value unless the intent is there, hence the reason you can gravely insult someone without swearing, yet say **** in normal conversation and reasonable people won't bat an eyelid. If they were specific instructed not to use that kind of language then yes, Notch has a point since that's a matter of following instructions, but if they were not, he and the organisers should be blaming themselves, not the entertainers. Sounds like Minecon had more than just swearing problems anyway, referring to the joke of an afterparty. Here endeth this talkin'"
Honestly, I have to side with the Yogscast on this. I love Notch to death, and while he does have a right to be annoyed, his own language, along with the fact that the Yogscast is KNOWN to swear in their videos, contradicts his tweet in this situation.
It is a shame to see it end this way, especially since Notch could have resolved this in private.
Okay I am not saying that what they did was right... but Notch -has- seen the Yogscast videos, right?
I don't think they should hide behind the whole "You should have told us to be good" thing, because to be quite honest, only teenagers can pull that kind of excuse. Simon and Lewis are closer to thirty than thirteen.
That said literally today a Judge in the UK has ruled that swearing at police is no longer a punishable offence because the words have become so over-used in our country that they've lost all meaning. Link here. And to be honest he's kind of right. There's nothing shocking about bad language in England anymore.
Still with the amount that Simon and Lewis have spent on their educations, they really ought to know better than to swear when speaking in public. Especially on some kind of panel. It's really not kosher and Notch is right to be annoyed.
He has a right to be annoyed, he doesn't have the right to throw Simon and Lewis under the bus. Think about it, Yogscast has built their career on Minecraft, now all of a sudden it's gone AKA Notch f-bombed them right in the ass.

Only Notch very blatantly does NOT censor himself. Have you heard the words coming out of his mouth? The things he's said publicly? Now he's playing all innocent.
Funny thing is I've heard an interview by c418 and he dropped more f-bombs in a minute than I thought possible. Hopefully he didn't have a panel.
However whether or not they knew it was right they must understand the general age group of minecraft players. They're not speaking to an old folks home about retirement plans but speaking to an audience made up 10-20 years olds primarily. Even without knowledge of the age group it's good to take the political route and be very cautious of your word choices, however the yogscast are made up of two people who're so full of themselves that I wouldn't doubt it if they didn't give a crap.
I'm guess most of the precious children that hear those deadly words were at the panel becuase they watch the yogscast videos, which means they've heard every use of the work "****" from the highlight video before in their orginal videos. If you are mad at your kid hearing **** 20 times perhaps you should stop them from watching a channel that has said it about a thousand times.
Maybe Notch only sent out that tweet as sort of a 'official apology' because parents were complaining and he had to say something. Maybe he contacted the Yogscast in private and told them it's all good?
I thought this at first too, but if Notch wanted to make a public statement, he wouldn't make it over Twitter, also, the Yogscast wouldn't have replied in the way they have.
I still don't see why Notch is so upset about the f-word he uses himself, especially after his interview with Yogscast where he referred constantly to masturbation, and mentioned doing things to Simon's mum.
Anyhow, I think it's time we broke out the popcorn.

That becomes more of an idea of who made who, did Minecraft makes the yogscast? Or did the yogscast help minecraft? Anyways I don't have kids bro, however I doubt a large majority of them came from the yogscast however there is a difference between videos and real life. You don't if a video will ever go up and who will see it, in a public conference you know people will hear it and the demographic of the people.

That's fine Notch is also the creator of Minecraft he can swear if he wants because it would be him getting himself into trouble. On the other hand if someone else got him into trouble for the exact same thing it would be kind of annoying.
If that doesn't work then compare it to the vocabulary of NOTCH.
Exactly. If kids at school could speak as properly as Yogscast does, I bet school's teachers would be glad! The problem is when you swear because of your lack of vocabulary.
To some people, watching stupid shows on TV like "I cheated on you with your Mom" or "you're not the father of my 4 children" is never a problem, as long as there is no swearing. What a joke...
Swearing is not THE main problem. We have to consider everything. Based on that, I think Yogscast should apologize, and that's it.
Personally, I think this is Notch not being very professional. You don't hirer a hooker to do a child's party, you don't hirer a clown for funerals, and you don't hirer two excitable people who curse to not curse at children. This is becoming a pattern for Notch, what with his little "quake challenge". It's sensible that Notch doesn't quite have a mind for business yet, Minecraft got very big overnight and this is there first big game, he's still a greenhorn. However, this is still a sensitive situation he's got himself stuck in. Notch should have had eyes on everything seeing that this was all about him, his company, and his game, including the presentation video that stirred this controversy. As a creator and participant in creative group projects, I always have my eyes on my creations or contributions, making sure nothing harms the image I stood to make. Notch showed the ability to misrepresent his creation twice now in my eyes, and I'm surely not the only one to see that. Notch needs some finesse to deal with this situation, not quick satisfaction.
And to make this clear, not a big fan of the yogscast. I like their mod spotlights, and some israphel stuff, but I pretty much disregard everything else. I didn't even watch them for minecraft at first, I was watching them to watch the Terraria beta(Yes,I am a sandbox-*****). The reason this approached my altering eye was is that I'm very pro-speech, in the sense that I find that all words should be used, and any stigma behind words are caused by the intent behind them, not their nature.
On the subject on-hand, am I the only one who's wishing that Notch will follow up sometime soon by defending his position? While I have been in defense of Notch in this thread, his actions still do seem a little strange and I am honestly wondering his underlying motivations behind this whole incident. It's negative PR to him, in a way (also positive since people seem to either like or hate yogcast, there's very little "in-between" from what I've seen)
If the yogcast are going to go defensive, Notch should also try to defend his point a little. Maybe one side will eventually budge and determine who was right in the end.
I see what you did there.
Shhh, the grownups are talking.

Give it a rest, he was being facetious.

Yogscon would absolutely rock.
