It was Martin Luther King Jr. who said "One has not only a legal, but a moral responsibility to obey just laws. Conversely, one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws."
Incase you don't know who that is, and based off of you're previous posts, I imagine you don't, you might want to google him.

I don't feel the need to respond to quotes from historical figures taken out of context in place of developing coherent arguments.
Notch did the right thing and apologized, glad this is all over. I'm sure there's lessons learned on all sides, since I'm sure all parties share a part of the blame.
Time to move on...
To all the people saying he apologized and what-not.
It's obvious he apologized because he doesn't have valid proof and shouldn't have accused them unless he had proof.
He knows Yogscast has a big fan-base, and he knew he made a ton of people mad through his Twitter posts, also knowing that Yogscast fan-boys would go mad, and flame the hell out of Notch.
Please, before posting that Notch apologized and said he was wrong, use your brain.
Think about it, they probably moved the conversation personally and more privately, and made it closed off to public.
There may have been a misunderstanding, but I believe Notch over a few "kids."
Before I get flamed, let me ask you all something.
Why would Notch go public with this, and risk ruining his reputation, and knowing all their fans he knew he would get flamed if he mentioned it, but then in one of his Twitter posts, he posted he'd stop biting his tongue and go out with it.
What I'm saying is, please use common sense before saying it's over and Notch was wrong.
(Yes, of course Notch had to say he was wrong since he had NO valid proof, and since all their fans would flame him if he said he was still right. Again, common sense..)
I've taken it exactly as it appears in the headline ...
Except even you acknowledge the context is probably wrong there. Long videos of them talking about the game and community show they love and appreciate everyone in it. That's stuff that is IN CONTEXT.
All we have are a bunch of crappy accusations by Notch that have zero support from anyone. So unless you think that all this stuff somehow happened with no witnesses except Notch (which is largely impossible since some require other witnesses), then there's nothing here but Notch misunderstanding things and being a jerk.
And there's plenty of reason to think this. Notch has overreacted to people before and "been done" with tons of things before for seemingly little reason. Mojang sold the rights to the Yogscast's livestream and convention coverage without permission whilst expecting the Yogscast to pay for all their rooms, flights, etc on their own. Mojang's response? The Yogscast was "difficult to work with" -- they don't deny anything.
Frankly, there really is no reason to think the Yogscast did anything wrong, while there is clearly plenty wrong with how Mojang handled running the convention. Further evidence could show up to change things, but given that it has been several days and nothing has appeared, that seems a bit unlikely.
As for the playtest bit, one of the people there said there were no problems at all and no one was upset, so it doesn't even seem clear there was any fuss. You are just assuming one person was right and another person must be wrong there when they disagree -- note this is different then what I am doing above because we've had a lot of people comment on this, including Mojang and Notch responding to comments that have been made and not denying certain heinous actions on their part or the fact they reviewed and approved video they later complained about.
I just don't see how anyone can look at the evidence and not conclude Mojang handled Minecon horribly.
I don't feel the need to respond to quotes from historical figures taken out of context in place of developing coherent arguments.
Tranlation: "Oh god he's right. I'm just going to ignore his argument and pretend to be cool."

You are assuming he's perfectly rational, when he's demonstrated multiple times that he isn't. He tends to go off on things and twitter without thinking things through. He's done it before and he'll most likely do it again.
Your question here is absurd, because there are plenty of people far more famous and with far more to lose who have done far stupider things in public than Notch.

I fully agree, what i don't see is how people can claim that Yogscast must have handeled Minecon perfectly without doing anything wrong at any point whatsoever. Even when they did apologize for dropping f-bombs on the show.
Everyone makes mistakes, mojang sure made many related to minecon, the minecon organizers seems to have done their fair share too. So why can't people admit that also the Yogscast can make mistakes? Honestly i couldn't care less if the yogscast did swear in front of a kid or not as they defenetly wouldn't do it on purpose. But swearing is natural to them (after all they ARE British :tongue.gif: ) so why are people so determined on that they can't possibly have accidentaly sweared in front of a kid while signing something. It's not like it suddenly make them bad people or anything, it just makes them human...
Edit: Before anyone criticize me for not mentioning Notch i'll just add that Notch sure did screw up big by handling it on twitter the way he did. And have probably screwd up more things too.

The issue isn't black and white. It sounds like a big mess across the board to me...

Because Yogscasts' mistakes hasn't gotten people harassed, slandered and DDOSed after they paid good money to fly across half the world to help a multimillionaire promote his own game. Yogscasts' mistakes are, at worst, not thinking of the children, and it only happened because Mojang ****ed up the screening in the first place.

I am just saying there's no evidence they made any mistakes of note. Well, I guess you could count some profanity in the hastily cobbled together video they made (which Mojang approved for what it is worth). That's about it.
That's very different from the fact that there's evidence that Mojang and Notch have handled things horribly.
I just want to avoid a false equivalence between the two sides.
The consequences being he has to hook up a webcam, apologize, render and upload the video, and post the link on twitter? I think it might be better if he talked to the Yogscast in person, or perhaps on Skype or similar, so they can fully work it out. You really can't change the past. Tough, you can make the future better. Apologizing in this case would be the best, publicly as well as privately, because that best controls any damage dealt.
He started this fiasco in public, he should end it in public. The damage he has done to the Yogscast's reputation is irreparable. It is time that Notch starts taking responsibility for his hurtful actions. Apologizing in person, on camera would be a good way to instill the shame in him that he deserves to feel.
I claimed that Notch never said they sweared _at_ a kid. Saying **** when a kid is around vastly different from saying **** you to a kid, which is what some people treat it like it were.
Oh so if what they did wasn't important then why did Notch deem it necessary to publicly harangue them and cut all business ties with them? It means that "f-bombing kids" was something bad enough to warrant that.
No, it's both the yogscast AND mojang/minecon organizers fault if the yogscasts show weren't appropriate for the audience. If an author publishes a book that causes problems it's not just the publishers fault even though they have approved the book, the author is still the one that wrote it.
But, mojang/minecon organizers can't blame yogscast for it after approving it.
Yogscast's fault ends at rehearsal. If they did something inappropriate then the only victims were the adults attending rehearsal. Their panel was approved which means responsibility was passed from Yogscast to those who approved the panel for public view.
He didn't say he was mistaken, but that it was a missunderstanding and there are actualy several of the minecon volunteers have confirmed both sides.
It doesn't matter if Notch said he was mistaken or he misunderstood, both circumstances imply that Notch still believes they are guilty which is all the proof most people need, just like the only proof you need is a few anonymous reddit posts to have "confirmed both sides" of the story.
I will say it again since I have been ignored every single time. If Simon and Lewis did something bad then show video proof. Just one thing, one second, anything that shows them acting the way these allegations suggest. There were thousands of people at that convention and every video posted online was of them acting polite.
I have no video evidence, nor have there been found Yogscast DNA on the kid in question. I therefor yield to the impeccable Yogscast. Congratulations.
If i may add, in scandinavia it's common with word-compounding, combining words to make new words. For example an engine made for a car would be named a carengine. In addition to this the word naut is common among all the scandinavian languages as it have its roots in old norse. It means bull or fool depending on use. Meaning in scandinavia the name Yognaut literaly means Yogbull or Yogfool. I must say i find the coice of name rather fitting right about now, and im sure im not the only one.

Yeah and astronauts are astrofools in Scandinavian which is a rather apt choice as well, I'm sure you'll agree!

In Scandinavia I believe it is common for them to not assume the accused is guilty. Certainly their scientists believe the burden of proof is on someone making a claim.

Actualy, since it's often hard to prove some things scientificly it is often the norm to make a theory that you can't prove wrong yourself, then publish it for others to try to prove wrong. Also known as the hypothetico-deductive model. This is why the theory of evolution and theory of relativety are still often refered to as theories. So you could say Notch have followed the scientific belief on burden of proof rather acurately. He were told claims, he couldn't prove them false himself, so he published them for either others to prove false or to stand as truths :tongue.gif:

Indeed it is. And some decades ago space travel were indeed considered a foolish thing only theorized about by "mad" scientis. :tongue.gif:
