If you're trolling or being deliberately insulting. Either way, knock it off. However I will assume the benefit of the doubt and simply accept it as agreeing with me.
Anyway, I was only taking the opportunity to clarify the whole "Mojang getting sued for Yogscast swearing" BS for what it is, BS.
I accidentally copy-pasted. That wasn't meant for him.

All moderation on forums is biased. Mods and admins do play favorites. Thus there is truly no point in "playing by the rules" since enforcement of said rules is subjective. That is why I refuse to censor my speech and will call things exactly as I see them without reservation.
Okay I probably should have read further into this rumour, sorry about that.
In some countries, I'd believe this lawsuit would have had legs if true (such as in Poland where a woman sued a public swimming pool because her daughter got pregnant while swimming in it), but not here in the US. I don't think things have gotten all that bad yet.

i made a signature banner for this... someone who is better at making them could make one if they want. i think we could have banners for each side too or one saying that we should all get along. or another one like mine that says i witnessed it
So basically Notch jumped the gun on bitching them out to his massive fanbase, and then sort-of apologized before they could even get a response in, which will make them look like they're the ones who won't drop it. Brilliant.
Brits swear worse than sailors. Notch should've seen that coming. Mind you, if even half of the other stuff he posted is true then the Yog boys were really playing the stereotype hard. Probably too hard.
I've been playing since before there were 500 purchases, I've supported Notch on every single thing he has done even when it was really stupid, and I was proud to say that I was a Notch Defense Force operative.
Sadly however, Notch is almost entirely in the wrong here, and thus I am resigning my post as Lieutenant Colonel of the NDF.
Rule number one, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, and this sort of High School gossip is something that Notch should have kept in Sweden. If you really think the fact that he was "pressured" to do it is an acceptable excuse, then I sincerely hope no one ever asks you for your social security number, or god-forbid your wallet, because you'd just hand it right over.
Rule number two, when interacting with a different culture, primary language, or people group, do not ever immediately take anything said seriously. Yes I know Notch speaks English, but it seems to me that he took Simon and Lewis's humor *not my kind of humor really, but humor nonetheless* far too seriously. I don't know enough, so for all I know Simon and Lewis were actually jerks, but this is certainly something that you should never want to assume right away.
Rule number three, don't insult your fan-base, or the people who create your fan-base. Most people in the Minecraft community understand thatI know it's hard to believe, but Simon and Lewis are one of the leading reasons as to why you've been so successful. Yes, you'd still have a successful product without them, but it's still self-harming. Not paying two people who fly down from Britain *whether they were serious or not about getting paid* who have most likely given you hundreds of thousands of dollars of revenue is considered an insult as well.
Rule number four, don't get mad at cursing. I understand cursing isn't the only problem that arose with the two Brits, but when stuff like the Creepy Creeper is allowed that has to be seen by anyone who walks by, and the world "****" isn't allowed for the people who choose to go to the specific panel, you're going to have problems...
I know all of this has already been stated, but I thought I'd just like to state exactly how I feel. While it was probably a joke, Notch does seem to be a "nerd who doesn't know how to run a company" as you should never make a statement like Notch did if you are in his position. Also I mean no offense by quoting the word nerd, because when you exist primarily because of the internet, or develop games, you are a nerd in most definitions of the term, and if you take offense to it, you have a problem. I am a nerd mind you, and you probably are too.
Anyways at the beginning of this, I was trying not to take sides, but then I realized that Notch made it very hard for me not to.

Well put and I agree.
This more that anything else will cause Notch's public image harm.
It wasn't advertised as a child-friendly convention. The parents should have found out what the Yogscast was first.
That's unreasonable. Also language is hardly the cause of all this drama. It was just notches first jab at yogscast, then came the diva and greedy **** comments.

No, it wouldn't be the parents' responsibility to find out what the Yogscast was, but it would be their responsibility to realize that an all-ages event does not equal 100% kid-friendly. This goes double for anything internet based, which Minecraft definitely is. Personally, I would take the assumption of socially accepted public behavior as a base for any such event, which means no real nudity/sexual content and the occasional swear word. To expect otherwise is pretty much unrealistic. Part of being a parent is knowing the kind of society and world one is raising their children in and tailoring their expectations for their children's exposure appropriately.
All that is beside the point though. The problems apparently run much deeper than this and have only been compounded by Notch's immaturity in the matter.

maybe I missed something in this long thread but what do u mean Notch was "pressured" into doing this? how does this relate to the issue with the yogscast. As far I can tell, Notch didn't complain about being at the Minecon just how the yogscast behaved.

i think people are making a big deal out of the whole swearing thing. That was just one part of the issue that Notch pointed out. Until Yogscast tells their side of the story, we shouldn't automatically assume Notch is in the wrong for not liking their brand of humor. And besides, b/c everyone here thinks swearing is okay for kids doesn't make it so. last I checked, the US is a conservative country and I can see parents not happy about swearing.

how did Notch insult the fan-base? by fan-base, you mean minecraft fan-base or yogscast fan-base? he said yogscast acted inappropriately. How is an insult to people? You also forget that yogscast was there before minecraft. its minecraft that made them popular, they didnt have a million subs when they were doing WOW videos did they? I can only presume yogscast are fans of minecraft and they were invited to come, why should they demand to be paid? how does Notch refusing to pay them make him the bad person here? it wasnt like yogscast was forced to come and then forced to pay for themselves. if they thought it wasn't worth their time and effort, they could of just politely said no. i wouldnt have a problem with that. they obviously thought they could benefit from it and they wanted to come, and to demand payment doesnt seem right.

You missed the part where yogsfans "pressured" Notch into slandering yogscast. Check his twitter if you still need an explanation.

Most of us understand that swearing isn't the real issue. Refer to Notch's twitter for a list of complaints about the yogscast.

This giant thread is proof enough that Notch upset his fans greatly.
They might demand to be paid since they flew in from a whole different country to come and do a panel at minecon.
Also the relationship between yogscast and mojang is mutually beneficial. Yogscast was still partnered before minecraft and were doing fine, they promoted minecraft to a ton of people and in return got tons of subs. The players promoted minecraft more than anything. So while Notch made the game, the cause of it going viral is in big part to youtubers (including yogscast)

All Yogscast has to do is be very careful when they respond. Keep in mind there are "ALWAYS" people holding off on "evidence" to post once one party or the other lies. Nobody will see any of it till Yogscast makes their response video. This biggest liar will get hurt the hardest.
I'm on Notch's side on this one, if Minecraft didn't exist, Yogcast probably would be nearly as popular as they are now.
In my opinion, the Yogcast is just two guys playing minecraft, nothing else.

You're just another player playing minecraft. I'm sure you'd be fine if people decided to insult you for no good reason publicly, and if they stole money from you.

This basically sums up the opinions of pretty much everyone who have actively defended Notch in spite of his childishness. They do so only because they don't like Yogscast and are completely unable to look at the situation objectively.
