Is there a block that allows you to attack, but mods behind it cannot? I have set up a zombie XP farm using a dungeon I found in a cave, and made it so they only need 2 hits unarmed to die. But here's the problem, whenever I get to close, such as when I go to collect items or xp, or just on accident, I get hit by them. Is there some kind of material that will allow me to hit them, but not make it so they can hit me back when I get close? I thought extended pistons would help, but didn't.
What would work?

What kind of XP farm do u have? As in what does it include and look like?
What I did is just cover the place they drop in (which should be a small confined space) with glass allowing one glass by their legs to be free, and I just swipe at their legs.
@mikebrag
It's the standard dungeon, except I carved on the edges, so they spawn in a square, I then have a water source on one end push them into a water ladder on the other end, they go up, and drop about 25 blocks I'd have to say (I play on hard.) (Will post pics if wanted.)

I'm at bedrock level, they have to fall.
What I'm asking is the place where they fall down is it confined (i.e one block area)?
Can zombies hit you if you touch up against the block?
Yes, one wide. I can expand if needed.
Cover the hole where the zombies are with glass panes but leave one spot of the panes empty. The empty pane should be at their leg level, so you can safely swipe at their feet. Oh, and by cover I mean like just the front of it, no need for it to be all around the hole.

Make it so they're gathered in a 1x1 area. Have them stand on a raised platform, so you can see their feet, but have them enclosed so they can't escape. You can just hit their feet from a block away and they will get harmed, but cannot attack you very well.
Here's a diagram:
EDIT: Zombies can attack you if you stand right next to them. Just stand close, not directly next to the gathering area.
For my skeleton monster spawner I had them on a raised platform also ^^. Didn't think that would make much of a difference for the zombies, but as I said (and you said) stand back a bit and they can't hit you.
What would work?
Edit: my bad its not a mod its just like a program

I play legit on an SMP server.
You know there's people who like to play vanilla, right?

Sweet, I'll look into it.

Cool, ty ^-^
Two words: resource dependent.
No problem :biggrin.gif:
They still hit me for some reason.
Have you tried standing back a bit? My spawner was a skeleton so no matter how close they can't hit me, but for zombies try standing back a bit.
Found my problem - Jumping allows them to hit you :tongue.gif:
