"Do we want to be the mediocre brimstone boy, or do we want to be the more-than-enough brimstone man?" - Northernlion
My brother thought up a pretty neat one. Basically, you build 1 layer of sand with 1 layer of wood beneath it. Next, 1 layer below the wood layer, you build dispensers throughout the outer walls. The dispensers will shoot fireballs, burning the wood randomly, causing sand to fall. The objective is to avoid falling down. (Could be hard since you can't see beneath the sand.)
I've gotten my game ideas from watching AH Things to Do:
-Minesweeper: Instead of TNT and sand, I used dark grey wool as the top layer (can be destroyed quickly with shears without harming their durability) and different colors of wool for the mines and numbers on the layer underneath (very easy to move around to replay, again thanks to shears)
-Shooting: I have two of these next to each other with a redstone timer inbetween. The first is Mooshroom Hunting- mooshrooms in minecarts going back and forth. it's a pain to get the Mooshrooms in the carts, unfortunately! The second is Shooting Gallery, where you hit small paintings off walls. There are hoppers in minecarts going back and forth underneath so none get lost
I also have a secret room maze, not sure if that counts? It's more of a puzzle, but very fun to build and go through!
1. Landscape duel
It should be exactly 2 players to play. Each of them should have these items: 1 set iron armor, 1 iron sword, 1 bow, and a lot of arrow. You can also give them food if you want. Don't forget to build some landscape in the area, or just find one. When game started, these players will try to kill each other by using their weapon and landscape.
2. Ghost buster
You make 2 teams and be sure 2 teams has same players amount. Team 1 called "Ghost buster", and team 2 called"Ghost". Each player in team 1 can have one set iron armor, one iron sword, one splash potion of weakness(ID: 373:108) and 1 stone pickaxe; for each player in team 2 have 16 wooden planks, 16 cobblestones, 16 fire(ID: 50) and 16 snowballs. If ghost all died, busters win. If busters die by ghosts, ghost win. Build a house with many floors and/or rooms for game area.
Use redstone and command blocks to make a working capture the flag. You can make one map in the sky or many. Have an area with beds so people can set their spawn points and choose sides there. Have them step on a pressure plate or something that gives them leather armor and a dispenser that gives them a tunic with their color. Use mcedit to have 9 stacks of 127 (that's the max) of them in the dispenser. Then it can tp them to their base (you want a little delay between the /give and dispenser so they get their items. The map just has 2 bases, 1 red 1 blue and a cool terrain in between to fight on. There can be an optional referee that starts/ ends the game. It doesn't take too much redstone, just a good basis of command blocks. You have to know how to use scoreboard and testfor (also /tp). I did it. Real fun with a lot of people. I make it so each person gets an iron sword and a bow with 2 stacks of arrows.
Two mini-games I've been playing a lot was Capture the Wool and Destroy the Monument/Core. Capture the Wool is just like capture the flag. Destroy the Monument/Core is when you rush to the enemy's side and attempt to destroy a small monument or leak a obsidian ball filled with lava.

"Why isn’t my life like a situation comedy? Why don’t I have a bunch of friends with nothing better to do but drop by and instigate wacky adventures? Why aren’t my conversations peppered with spontaneous witticisms? Why don’t my friends demonstrate heartfelt concern for my well-being when I have problems?… I gotta get my life some writers." ~Calvin, Calvin and Hobbes
