What has minecraft become? It is no longer a survival and building game. This is a freaking RPG with levels, dragons, different dimensions, dungeons, villages, and enchantments. What has happened to the old mysterious minecraft I once paid for? I remember when the game was about survival against the scary and mysterious night. I would mine and mine; knowing that I was the only one alive here no matter how far I traveled!
I think I'll just degrade to 1.7.3 and stay there forever. Ever since that minecraft has sort of went to crap :dry.gif:
You do realize you can play Minecraft regularly by ignoring those things, right?
They're not being shoved in your face.
(except for experience, still ignorable)
I hear ya, I want no part of the dragons and potions and stuff, but it's not like you're gonna be forced to do those things. I have legal backup .jar files all the way back to 1.3, and illegal infdev and alphas.
Although there are certain parts of that statement I agree with (i.e. disliking levels, villages, and enchantments), there are certain parts of it I do like.
Check out my sig to see some more I dislike...

God, it's people like you that are unappreciative about EVERYTHING changing. I've seen a lot of these things apply for other games. "I miss the old Runescape" "I miss the old WoW" I miss the old Maplestory"
Besides, it's not that hard to remove out of the game. There are mods out there that can disable things and make it back to the way it is if your so worried about it so much.
People have asked for this, so they got it. Besides, people keep saying that Minecraft is too boring.
What they said ^
People have asked for this stuff. Then when it gets added, different people complain. Well guess what, if they DIDN'T add these things, someone ELSE would have complained. How bout people just learn to play the game as it is and not worry about what it's become. Making a thread about how much you dislike something isn't gonna change anything.
Dude, its still a mysterious survival game, calm down okay.
Its only an RPG if there's actually people that you can stop and have a conversation with, and as far as I know there's no one but you in single player. If you really don't want it to be like an RPG then just don't play online. Problem solved. lol

If I helped you in any way, or if you think my smart-assed comments were funny. Please hit the green button in the lower right corner of my post. Thanks!
I don't particularly like the potions and enchantments and such, but the rest of it seems great. I decided that I'm just not going to use potions, unless for some reason I need one to get the the Ender realm.
I know, but it does bother me still. I don't think you will be able to turn off ender world...
Ok this is just silly. Why would you need to turn off a separate realm that requires a portal to get too. JUST DON'T MAKE THE PORTAL and it's a moot point. All these threads that pop up every time a change is made. The game is what you make it, if you believe its an exciting and fun game then you will enjoy it. If you feel it sucks then please just quit playing, write notch a letter or whine on your FB about it. Everyone who purchased this game in the alpha or beta should understand the game is still in development. It may likely NEVER stop improving. Even after Notch and Mojang have stopped adding content the modding community will continue. If you do not like the way the game is you could always sanction a mod that alters Minecraft to become the game you would rather be playing.

Don't take my word for it but... Minecraft is possibly becoming a more developed game. I know it's pretty unbelievable. I'm not sure, I'm going to have to do more advanced equations to solve it.
Disregarding my sarcastic comment. I'm actually liking the new changes. I'm not in love with the alchemy. But hey, like you said you can always down grade. I'm not sure but I think they are going to have survival mode back in a further update. I don't think this is true though.

Hunger, villages, mobs, combat, etc etc etc. They're survival elements, in SURVIVAL Mode. There's Creative Mode for building, and all that.
If anything, Minecraft is becoming MORE of a Survival/Building game, by making modes for both of them, and adding vital components to each mode. While still making neither mode completely exclusive (you can build in survival, and survive in creative.)
Potions or enchantments by any other name would not cause this much fuss. If they were Cooking Recipes or Upgrades, would they be so bad? Just because it conveys MAGIC and ****, means it's an RPG element.
Potions and enchantments, nor anything Notch has added, are not RPG elements, because they do not make your character play a role.
A concept that you don't like =/= RPG element
If anything, it's less like an RPG since 1.8, with hunger being a vital survival element, while not being present in any RPG that I've ever seen (other than Hardcore in New Vegas, and that was actually dehydration). They've also added Creative Mode, which isn't very RPG-like, is it?
Minecraft is improving, and because it's changing people automatically think the changes are for the worse. Notch is adding elements that improve the game, add features, and make it more interesting.
Because of it, the community gets riled up over his extra effort.

Preeeetty sure you have to *survive* against them and *build* to keep them away.
Minecraft has not changed as much as people are believing it has. You still have to build and survive. That is what the game functions around. Potions and enchantments are merely secondary effects. They're not necessary, and unless you build a potion room or an enchantment table, they'll never affect your gameplay in the slightest.

You don't have to go in it, and when you generate a world, you can turn off structures.
Why would you want to if you don't have to go there?

Something thats ****ING AMAZING!!! Except for animals not spawning anymore, but Notch is probably going to put that back in :tongue.gif:
Either deal with it, don't use the new features, or just get out.
