In my current SMP world (1.9 pre), we have eagerly been looking for snow biomes. No luck so far, despite some wide-ranging expeditions.
Question 1: We generated this world in the 1.8 pre-release, where no snow biomes were created. I had thought, however, that with later updates these biomes (along with giant mushroom ones) would start to appear when exploring new chunks. Is this correct? Or is our 1.8 world forever alone snowless?
Question 2: If my initial assumption was correct, and there ARE snow biomes somewhere in this world and are just really far away: Is it possible to view a map of a certain seed, without exploring it? I know I can export a map of the known world with MCMap etc., but is it possible to view unexplored chunks within a certain distance from the spawn, for example?
From what I know, its almost impossible for a world not to have a snow biome. Keep looking, you'll find it eventually.

I'd suggest, to cut down on exploration time, copy down your seed# from the F3 screen, make a new world in creative mode, and fly around in a big spiral (with a map on your toolbar to help navigate).

More Ocean Life: Kelp, Coral, Crabs and Jellyfish; Coconut Palm trees for beaches and islands. Terrain Generation Changes: Which biomes and world-building features are most in need of change?
That means 1.8 worlds. If you explore new chunks it's technically "generating" the world again, so you can still have snow biomes in the 1.9 pre when you're exploring new chunks.

Ah, thanks. So somewhere, somewhen I should stumble on snow... I'll keep on trying.
But to reiterate my second question: If the same seed generates the same world, wouldn't it be possible to view a map without having to explore it first, somehow?

Uhm... I actually can't respond very well to that T_T

"There is no snow in any worlds generated after the update."

If you want snow, try it out, and you won't be disappointed. It is huge!
