Do you dare question chuck noris :Flint and Steel:
Yes, I do. Regardless of who you are, you don't know what updates are to come. All we know are nether bricks, nether bridges, and NPCs, and a use for skill points. Those are it. Unless you are a part of the Mojang Team, you don't know. Even if you are Chuck Norris.... And the joke is getting old.
Wow Everyone in this tread fails the troll prevention test. I was doing a survey on how many people would suspect a troll and no one got it jk jk i love minecraft.

If you were attempting to troll you failed. You failed hard. You failed harder than a Chuck Norris punch.
Minecraft is a great game for adventurers and builders, or at least was. Minecraft I have noticed has actually barley any content at all. Its just a game held together by moders and minecraft Fanboys. The 1.8 update is great but what happens when you do all the dungeon raiding and exploring its suppose to bring to minecraft. Thats right it becomes the same boring box of legos that i think it has been forever. See the problem is that this game is dying, once you find diamond what are you suppose to do? Start a new world and find more diamonds probably or go to the useless nether to get flaming rock and stone that glows. Its too repetitive. Mods do not make a game what it is, the games does.
The fun of Minecraft is in what you choose to do with it; it's your world. You can set your own goals and objectives, whether they be creating impressive structures, discovering grand natural formations or merely living life in a simple hut and exploring your local caves.
I've been doing this for more than a year now, and I've never even been bored an instant. It only gets boring if you have such a serious lack of imagination that you need artificial, external objectives to give you meaning to the game, such as killing 10 rats or fetching this or that.
Such additions are really very superfluous and unfulfilling in my opinion, and don't do justice to Minecraft itself, which has always been a creative game. In order to enjoy it fully, you have to be creative yourself. Use your imagination and have fun with the sandbox that this game is. Do what you want and have fun on your own.
If that's too much responsibility for you, then go play a linear game where your hand is held constantly. I suggest something like DA2 is what you're looking for. You won't find that in Minecraft, thankfully.
I play Minecraft standing on the roof of my house with a laptop, completely naked, the wind lapping at my hair and genitals. It is very refreshing. The neighborhood watch loves me.
Troll? I don't know. I don't care if someone complains about MC but people should show a little more respect.
So what is MC supposed to be? A perfect game that doesn't get boring forever? I don't think any game has done that. I've played MC for years and it has paid itself (10 euros) many, many, many times over. When the modding API/full code is relased (probably after the game is released) and people start making games out of this game, it will last even longer.
As for "just a giant box of legos", quite frankly, if that's all it really was (which it isn't), I would still be satisfied because Legos never get boring! Sure, maybe you don't take them out as often, but it's something that I will always look back on with a smile.
Notch, thanks for making MC. You've truly entertained me in ways no other game has.
Sorry but this game is almost done - all you people that keep saying it isn't finished yet are in for a shock.
They work at a snails pace adding features and content and even then when they do it usually is broken.
I still love the game though. I wish is had more like everyone else but we'll have to rely on modders to finish the game with the features and things we'd like to see.
Their clock for release is almost up and if you look at the pace in which things are fixed / improved there won't be much more added by November.
All these "other" game reviews by notch sorta lets you know how much time he spends on his game and on others.
Thats ok though. I mean it looks like he created the game out of joy not necessarily as a job and it sort of became a job. But he wont let it push him or change who he is. That totally cool with me.
I'm just saying if you are going to put out a real large project like this and keep people happy you are going to have to hire a lot more people and get it done.
I ment was theres no more major content updates. 1.9 is probely gonna add some glowing crap to the nether and then the game is done
Listen punk. I have spent every day playing Minecraft and Team Fortress 2. This is made by only, what, 5 people? You suck, because 5 people aren't going to magically make a CoD game appear. These are the only two games I will ever play. Watch your step in these forums, its like finding a needle in a haystack, but if you don't find the needle, you DIE.
These forums are meant to talk about Minecraft and how cool it is. If you don't like Minecraft, go talk to your friends on Black Ops how much it 'sucks.' Why did you even write this? Did you expect 3 million stockholders to go and suddenly bow down to you for realizing their 'mistake?' We keep on moving on.
If Minecraft gets boring, you are making it boring. Even if you have 5 stacks of diamond blocks, you are always missing one thing in the game that made it right.
That's the beauty of Minecraft. You can do what you want. If you think it gets boring after finding diamond then this isn't the game for you. It isn't just about getting diamond. It's about building what you want, inventing new contraptions and exploring. Minecraft is what YOU make it and that's what, IMO, makes Minecraft so fun.
They'll still carry on adding content after the 'release' date.
I agree they will too.. that is why I wish I could just fast forward a year from now. It might be more of what we all want.
I just want more MINE and more CRAFT in the game. Theres not enough different types of things to MINE and theres not a lot of stuff to CRAFT yet other than with blocks.
I want some objects you can craft even if they are not useful they could be for decoration. Some of us just like building villages and homes and such and would like hanging lanterns, and rocking chairs, and desks and dressers and shelving.
Some of us want to mine and find rare and exciting ores that are not common and make it worthwhile mining at higher elevations. Now most of us just try to get to level 12 and mine down there and thats it.
I think the problem is that given what has been completed, and the time it took to complete, it would be about the year 2014 before Minecraft could have any real lasting appeal. There's only so many diamonds to collect and Marios to pixel art before you login in realize there's nothing interesting left. Assuming the rate of development remains constant as it has, say since the halloween update (though realize we have jeb helping too now), my 2014 predication isn't so far off I reckon.
This sandbox is boring because I've found all the different kinds of sand in it.
The only thing holding me back right now is the knowledge of future changes. I may just go back to my 1.7 world until animal husbandry and village NPC's are introduced. Having a heck of a time convincing myself to invest time into a 1.8 world. With the half changed mob spawning rules it feels a lot like it did back when leaves weren't decaying.
I think 2.0 is gonna be the final edition but I really hope not. The game desperately needs a quest or an objective of some sort. It also needs another tier or level of complexity that doesnt involve redstone ie. bigger boats, bigger/faster furnaces, workbenches with larger grids.
A bigger furnace would add nothing to the game. Also Notch said that it would be difficult for them to make large vehicles. I disagree that Minecraft needs an objective. Just come up with the objective yourself or use this.

I lol'ed at the mario comment. that is so true.
I mean how many buildings and stuff can you make? We are working on the spawn area and towns to make it fun for people but once you do that what more? The time it takes collecting the resources to make what you want it mos tof the fun itself. But once you are done.. then what?
That is where the exploration comes in. Then you leave to explore new areas and discover new things.
Me personally I just don't think there are enough "things" in the game to keep people interested.
Need more ore/minerals and need more crafting items. PERIOD.
I mean every monument made has been reproduced in minecraft and its all been done. WHo wants to try and make another full galaxy class enterprise? Not me..
People only make stuff to show off. Some people just like to explore craft and have fun. Only so much you can do with blocks that are 2ft x 2ft

So a game in beta is dying? Sure. :tongue.gif:
