Congratulations to Mojang on their full release of Minecraft. Our app has been updated to reflect the new changes and items in the official 1.0 release! Please note that the Mods currently listed on the app are still for Beta 1.8, as they have not yet been updated for MC 1.0 as of this writing.
Minecraft Pocket Companion <----Click this link and you can send the app to your phone via your web browser! This version of the app is FREE.
Thank you to the following Mod creators for allowing us to reference their mods in our app -
MODDERS:
If you have a released mod, please get in touch with us! We want to document your mod in our app so our users have a quick and easy way to find mods, and instructions on how to use them, but we can't do it without your permission! PM us, post here with contact info, however you feel most comfortable.
WHAT IS THIS APP?
The Minecraft Pocket Companion is an informational/reference application for Android devices. It allows its users to quickly and easily look up crafting recipes, item IDs, and more. Our design concept is to have a simple to navigate UI, that will allow for all information to be accessed with no more than a few taps of the finger. Eventually, it is our goal to make the Minecraft Pocket Companion be the most complete and up to date resource for all things Minecraft related.
WHY YOUR APP?
When we started development on the Minecraft Pocket Companion, we downloaded a number of other similar, popular apps, and found them to be lacking. The Minecraft Pocket Companion aims to be a more complete and updated solution. Other Minecraft reference apps on the market tend to run slowly, or have confusing interfaces. Ultimately, as we continue to update information contained within it and add more tools and features, we'd like this app to become the de-facto resource for all Minecraft info for the mobile device owning community. We cannot do this without the community, however! Please read on for more details.
WHY ARE YOU POSTING HERE AND NOT RUNNING AN AD?
The Minecraft Forums were the main community we reached out to when we were running and developing our SMP server that was a small success. The members here were all very helpful in helping us realize our ideas, and we're hoping to achieve some of the same results with the Minecraft Pocket Companion here. We NEED your input and feedback - if this app sucks, you guys need to tell us so we can make it better! We are only a small two man outfit at the moment, and want our users to feel like we're within reach, not facing some big faceless corporation sitting in their ivory tower.
THERE'S A PAID VERSION! YOU GUYS ARE PROFITING OFF OF MOJANG AND MINECRAFT ILLEGALLY!
There is nothing illegal about the existence of this application whatsoever. We have NOT developed a port of the Minecraft game. We are NOT representing ourselves as Mojang AB. All of the images were taken from our own screenshots, all of the text is our own, all of the code is our own. The paid version, right now, really only serves to remove ads - we want to focus on expanding the content and features of the "core" app first. Eventually, we will add useful software tools like day/night timers, fuel calculators, and etc. - these will be PAID user only. Please be aware that we will never charge money for access to any informational content, or any 3rd party resource. Visit Mojang's Copyright and Licensing Page for more information.
WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
HOW CAN WE HELP?
Post in this thread with your ideas, comments, and criticisms - and leave us a positive review. Please don't be shy - you can send me a PM, or contact me over Skype over text, voice, or video if you prefer. I've got tough skin - I can take the criticism, I promise! I might try and defend what we're doing a little bit (we've put lots and lots of hours of work into this, with lots more to come) - but please be rest assured I am listening and taking your comments to heart.
WHERE IS THE iOS VERSION?!
We do not currently have access to Macs in order to develop a proper iOS version. It is our hope that this application will bring us enough success that we can afford to purchase a mac for the office and begin porting our work over to it. Help us spread the word about this app, so we can make this a reality!
The Minecraft Pocket Companion for Android is out now! The community's go-to resource for information on all things Minecraft - including IndustrialCraft², BuildCraft, and Better Than Wolves mods!
If our Android app picks up enough steam and an audience, then we will absolutely port this to iOS. Right now, we do not have access to iOS developer resources.

Also, if your area is covered by MetroPCS, I know they offer a ~$40 unlimited talk, text, web plan and have Android phones. So that's another low-cost solution, if you need a phone!

Kinniken of Millenaire mod, and DrZhark of Mo's Creatures have both just informed us that we'll be able to add information about their mods to our app! Expect to see the addition of the Mod section in the next update :smile.gif:

FlowerChild from Better Than Wolves has just given us the go ahead to add information about his mod in the app! We'll be working as fast as we can to prepare their sections within the app and get the update out.
If anyone knows any mod developers with released mods who think they might be interested in having their mod documented within our app, please point them in our direction! The more information we can provide to the community through our app, the more exposure every mod creator will get, and we can together create the most in-depth and detailed Minecraft resource on mobile devices.

Just heard in from SpaceToad - we'll be implementing BuildCraft information as soon as possible!
People reading the thread, please feel free to chip in with your two cents - we want to know what you think. If you don't like this, tell us why so we can make it better!

Good luck with the app.
Especially since there are several others that do the same thing.
Gonna need something unique to set you apart.
Thank you for the good wishes!
As of right now, we are in the process of adding comprehensive information for as many Minecraft mods as possible, to supplement our Vanilla information. Beyond that, we aim to add useful tools, popular SMP server info, etc - our app covers a much broader scope than our competitors. We've also found many of the other apps to be very slow to update - something that we hope we can prove to the community we will not fall victim to.

I'm going to hack bedrock in then surround myself, after hacking infinite armor, and a pumpkin, plus layers of obsidian over the bedrock i am sealed in, so I won't die. *stomach growls* ...NOOOOO

Good idea.
Adding info and patterns from some of the more popular mods will indeed solve the issue of blending in with the rest of the Minecraft Apps.
I just downloaded the app actually, and can't wait to see what you add to it.
is this necessary as most of us can just google and not go on the app, but its a good idea and ive seen other apps like this.
Neocheese, our hope is that in time, as we continue to update the app and add more and more content, it will give the Minecraft community an all-in-one place to go to on their mobile devices when wanting to look up anything Minecraft. Why alt-tab and google something that you can access within 3 - 4 quick taps of your finger? You get the info you need, and you get on with your game.

Wait a minute, so you ported minecraft beta to the android as an app, and it's either free or costs money that goes to you? And either way, it's illegal without Mojangs permission?
What the hell?
I think I'm going to rewrite the OP, this is the second user to have posted here thinking this is a Minecraft rip-off.
This is a COMPANION app - its an information resource meant to be used while you play Minecraft on your computer, or whatever other platforms the game ends up making it to (Kinect, etc).
We've made Mojang aware of the existence of the application upon release, and if they are concerned about it infringing on their copyright they can quickly and easily contact us to pull the app, and we will. Please don't try and stir bad feelings like that if you don't understand what this product is! :smile.gif:
