I run a creative server off my computer with a few friends. Someone decided to use Worldedit to change 100,000 blocks to TNT. Since the TNT went down to near-bedrock, some lava ignited it. The server immediately died. Now, I have had this same thing happen before, but in the past it happened very far away from the bulk of what we have built, so we just put signs and walls on all the roads near it, and those 10x10 to 20x20 chunks would become a dead zone, because if someone gets too close, the chunks with TNT load and the server crashes again. However, this time it was done with much, much more TNT than before, and it was done dead center of the server's largest city. I take some blame for this being such a problem, because I had not backed up the world for a day or two, and we have done a LOT of work in the last few days. What I need is a way to remove the live TNT and the still-block-form TNT from a distance, or outside the game. I have searched for people with similar problems, and ways to fix this, to no avail. I am sure that someone has had this problem before. The computer I am using I built less than a month ago, sparing no expense (ouch), so it is very powerful. I have yet to meet someone else in person that has a computer that can compete with it. I know I'm bragging, but the point I'm making is that my computer power is not a limitation. Could I increase the memory dedicated to Minecraft and just burn the TNT off in singleplayer? Any other suggestions for editors / worldedit methods / minecraft modifications would be GREATLY appreciated.

Type this if you have world edit!
//removenear 46 99
it will remove all TNT with in 99 blocks all the way to the sky and all the way to bedrock!
i love it to remove TNT and lava on my server for the griefers who dare challenge my server :tongue.gif:
Use a plugin that prevents TNT from exploding. They might still blow up, but the server won't be expending RAM calculating the explosions because there shouldn't be any.
Wow, thanks for the fast responses. I have tried MC Edit in the past and tried simply removing every TNT block in the world, but I think i was using an outdated version (or I used it wrong) and it didn't work. I should have mentioned before that the server is Bukkit, with the latest worldedit and essentials (among other plugins that wouldn't affect this). I added two before and after pictures to the main post, though I'm not sure if they help much... I have permissions installed, which i use to block /kill commands and such, but permissions won't actually edit the world. I have TNT blacklisted in the worldedit config as well, but that has never worked... Also, thanks for the input xXxOwnerxXx, I will try this! I have tried going around the area and selecting all the chunks, then just using //replace 46 0, but the server lags from such a huge operation, and usually i get read timed out errors and the server dies. Remember, I can't load the chunks the TNT is in, so i can't see it; if the chunks do load the server dies.

I looked through the Bukkit plugin list, and didn't see anything like this. All the plugins i saw just prevented people from getting / placing TNT. Could you link me to it? This sounds like exactly what i need.
Oh, wow. I went back through the Bukkit Plugin list and found a plugin that nerfed the TNT explosion altogether. It was in bad English, and it didn't even say TNT in the name, so I missed it the first time. It's simple, but works. After a couple seconds of lag as the first few hundred blocks blew up, the plugin kicked in and stopped it altogether. The result:
No real damage, I'm very relieved. The first thing i did was back up the world :smile.gif: Thank you very much for the input guys!

Other than that, you seem to be pretty screwed.

*edit*
or you could try using bukkit real quick and install permissions and have it set to not allow tnt and it might delete it
Or put the world in SP and use MCEdit to remove the TNT.

Now use WorldEdit regenerate the chunk.
