Whats the growth time of sugar cane in minecraft? ((under optimal lighting conditions))
Yes, ive googled it. And searched, but i havent been able to find the answer.
Im planing on an automatic farm that fires the pistons every time sugar cane grows 2 ticks, ((Or 3 cane blocks tall)) so that i dont have to hear them firing constantly to farm.
I believe I have timed it to 30 seconds... however I can get back on real quick and see. Also about the in complete darkness, but that will require a lot more patience. I've seen even half light slow down a sugar cane crop to a crawl.
EDIT: hmmm... perhaps I underestimated the length of time it took my to replant everything in my farm. By the time I'm done replanting, there's always more fully grown sugar cane to get. Just doing a few, and using op commands to keep it daylight for max speed, has seriously made me appreciate how slow this stuff is compared to how it felt. (30 seconds? Good glory no. I'm at 8 minutes right now) Still trying, though.
DUAL EDIT: 9 minutes. If you're wanting down to seconds we'd need to do more testing, but I think you'd be safe just setting it to run at 10. The sugar cane won't be going anywhere.
