I mean, what kind of gameplay benefit would we get from that?
A more dynamic environment. Maybe there would be some sort of repellent involved?
I'm not sure what kind of benefit a fish would add to gameplay since you can already catch them for food and there are already squids swimming about.
Who knows, maybe it's a mob exclusive to the new floating-island zone so it wouldn't even damage wood structures in the regular world. Perhaps it's a fish that just swims through the air between the islands.
That thread itself is another speculative thread like this one. No one really knows weather it'll be a silverfish (bug) or a silver fish, although personally I hope for the latter. I'd rather have more water mobs then more obscure bugs wandering around.
I think that it's a fish because nobody would choose a silverfish to implement into a game and make it 100 times it's actual size. (Yes Spiders were made bigger but seriously their spiders and this is a damn silverfish!)
Silverfish in a game is just completly abstruse and weird....and most of all stupid.
Silverfish are a real life wingless insect. they will likely be rare and add somewhat of a nuisance to wooden houses, but they wouldn't rampage them and destroy it in 5 seconds. And, they would be VERY easy to kill, and would not attack back.
You do realize that while half of the people agree with you the other half think you are the one who is a retard for thinking a silverfish is actually a fish rather than a bug.
I'm not sure I see the whole point to this argument since there are unused textures already. Maybe this is the texture of a mob they abandoned awhile ago and just put it in there to screw with people or to give modders something to mess with.
However I personally agree with the "it's a bug" side. The fact that "fish" is in the name doesn't necessarily mean anything, but maybe I'm wrong.
Ok what I know that silverfish is a bug. The way i am thinking is that they say they will add a water mob and then texture for silver fish gets discovered i am not saying that silverfish is a fish because it IS a bug. I am saying that the texture is for a fish that is silver not the silverfish bug. Ok sorry for the misunderstanding lol
That's not what we're debating here. Just because Notch wrote "silverfish" as one word in the .jar file doesn't necessarily mean he didn't mean it to be read as two words "Silver Fish".
Precisely. Computer programmers often leave out spaces because variable names can't have them. From what we know now, it's impossible to say whether it's a silverfish or a silver fish (both being creatures that exist in real life). Anyone who is certain it's either one or the other is being stupid. We just don't know yet.
