Seriously. I get the TNT thing - makes it so you don't accidentally set it off.
Pistons. Cool. Whatever.
I dont care how cool it is to pick up leaf blocks. Why must I now MAKE SHEARS to GET WOOL.
I mean seriously? WTF?
The whole 'cant find seeds by randomly tilling the ground anymore' was annoying enough. Fire? Sure, it helped with trolls but now it's no fun considering how nerfed it is.
But now i need to waste iron on shears which I'm already using on tools and armor, is just annoying. I mean come ON, punching sheep was like.. A STAPLE OF THE GAME. It was just 'see a sheep? go up to it and PUNCH IT FOR WOOL 8D' and now I have to waste iron and an inventory space, just so I can get some wool. I don't care that I can use leaves for a hedgemaze with the shears, it doesn't outweigh the bad.
So to get wool from a sheep in RL you punch it? Grow up..
And to power pistons in reality you use magical red powder.
And in reality rocks float in the sky.
And in reality you can use volcanic glass to create a rectangle, light the middle on fire, and travel to the ninth circle of hell.
Also, for some reason said volcanic glass is the hardest breakable material in the game world.
It's a videogame; realism is not required as evidenced by many of the game's physics and creatures.
And yes, the shears were a bad idea because iron is a limited resource which already had enough economic sinks.
Your opinion doesn't matter, and your existance is irrevalent.

Why you be a minen' in me mines? If you need to contact me, a private message is the way to go. I almost never come back to a topic after I've commented on it.

In RL obsidian is a fragile substance, you need to bake bread before you can eat it, you'd have breathing problems trying to work above the cloud cover, lightning doesn't turn pig into zombie pigmen, you can't punch trees to get wood and somehow make it into moderately powerful and extremely precise tools capable of mining large chunks of rock etc with just your bare hands, and there aren't Creepers, Zombies, giant super mega death spiders that are hostile by night and nice by day, slimey blobs, etc. What's your point.
how are you people fine with TNT not ignite-able by hand? that is the worst part of this update, i wish he made it so you can ignite TNT by hitting it with a new tool or something. it breaks my adventure map severely too.
Iron seems to be way more common now. I got 80 of it in like 20 minutes :laugh.gif:
What does that have to do with anything on this topic? haha

Mostly because it prevents accidental ignition when setting up large-scale explosions. That's why I don't mind it.
oooor....you all guys complaining get over it. It's not like it's hard to find iron c'mon. A few minutes of mining and you have a healthy dose of iron.
I guess i'm not so much mad about having to find and smelt and use the iron .. which i am.. as I am about having to waste an inventory slot just so I can get friggin wool.

1. Some people want to KEEP where they accidently place tnt
2. Minecrafters have a natural urge to test
3. Now we dont have to hack it in, and we can still make arw buildings nicer
4. Tall grass is as easy to find as coal, maybe even more.
5. Iron is hardly even 5% rarer then coal. It's very easy to find TWO WHOLE IRON
Fear not, for they have a purpose. in 1.8, sheep are supposed to not despawn and be able to regrow their wool, making it so you can get infinite wool from one sheep since shears don't hurt them.
I have to somewhat agree. I always did enjoy punching a sheep for its wool. With how it is now, I think we should be at least able to breed sheep (or something of that nature) so it isn't a chore to get wool.
In real life, punching a sheep doesn't give you wool.
I like how you totally did not read the topic at all to realize that counterarguments were presented for this argument which was posted relatively early in the thread.

Then .. why only release partial functionality upgrade O_o Why not just wait until 1.8 and do the entire thing

Because people who don't use mods or TMI or InvEdit wanted leaves to place hedges, but the shears were probably already coded the way they are and it would have been more work to change.
The only gameplay change I noticed after shears is it's quite difficult to build a bed to skip your first night (iron is not easy to find in a single day while you also have to build your first shelter and tools), so it makes your first day in a new world frantic again. I'm cool with that, I was getting used to punch a few sheeps and trees to easily skip the first night of terror, and this was starting to water down my MC experience.
Plus, finally having leaf blocks as a building material allows new ways of decorating my house with hedgerows, sculptural hedging, custom trees and so on, and that's just awesome.
Why dont people just get use to it? Iron is so easy to find -.- Also just take 1 redstone with 1 lever and ignite it take the redstone and run? not that hard :tongue.gif:

I don't really like the new way to find seeds either, but that's what Notch did and he's not gonna change it.

That doesn't make it any less of an idiotic decision.
