Pretty simple question, do maps have a set compass direction (ie top is north, right is east ect)? I looked at the wiki entry but it didn't have any information.
I think so, but it shouldn't matter because you can see the direction you're going with the little arrow.
I'm exploring a very very large map (the 3.5 gigabyte earth map), so being able to tell if I'm going east west north or south is fairly important - particularly when I'm in land and can't follow the coast.
The top of the item map is east. Unfortunately, it seems you can only have one map no matter how many maps you make or where you make them.
I have the Earth map as well. It can be difficult to navigate inland, and the Simplemap mod I use doesn't seem to recognise anything. Maybe another minimap can help you.

I find using f3 easier... but I guess it would be nice if there was at least a cardinal diagram to show you which direction you're going in (on the map itself, I mean).
That, or you could look at where the sun rises and sets. :wink.gif:

Unfortunately the map is to large for cartograph.
