As most of you know all people who bought Minecraft in the Beta stage are going to have to pay for expansions after the full release. Well for all of you that know about this you also know that Beta Buyers are MAD. I thought of a neat thing Notch could do to please the Beta Buyers. If you buy the game in Beta then buy an expansion pack you get a cape! The good sport cape! Its blue and it says "Good Sport" on it. The only reason that Beta Buyers are mad is because there not getting something that others are, giving them this should make them happy, I know it would make me happy :smile.gif:

Tis an age of self-entitlement.
Interesting idea to appease them with a virtual prop, seems to work for most games; (Insert TF2 Here)
But it was just a matter of timing to buy during alpha, and having to appease lawyers by adding the stipulation for beta.
However it is an idea you're offering, and not an 'order', so it would be gauche for me to dismantle it based on my own perspective. :tongue.gif:
So? I doubt they will be all that expensive. o-o And I also doubt there's going to be any expansions, we do have mods after all that make expansions you would have to pay for entirely useless.
If you wanted free stuff you should have bought in Alpha.
Don't act as if you're entitled to something for buying Beta at this point because you're not.
Hell, I'm still a bit pissed that I didn't buy it earlier. Could have grabbed it in Alpha if my paycheck had come a day earlier, but that's how life goes.
Frankly, no one knows what content will be in any expansions (if they make them, who even knows if they will?) and I will happily pay for whatever expansions interest me. I'd probably pay even if I had bought in Alpha just because I like supporting Minecraft.
So, what you are suggesting it that people who bought it in Beta, should get something for free, while Alpha buyers get NOTHING and they supported the game for longer. A couple things I'll say here:
1) Capes are ONLY for Mojang and people who have worked with them, such as Jeb_ and C418.
2) Why would there be a DLC if the game isn't even finished yet?
3) The reason Beta buyers have to pay again is because it was an advantage given to those who supported the game from Alpha and before.
If you bought it in alpha you helped support Notch and help him get Minecraft off the ground. If you bought it in beta, you just bought it after the fact.
We get the full game but not any expansions? As I see it Notch can call any update after release an expansion and effectively steal from us...If this happens I, most likely along with many, will stop playing the game.
While it is logical to draw that conclusion upon notch's decision, making such an assumption is acting negative AND dumb.
The fact that he stated he was removing the line promising free expansions implies that it no longer applies after the December 20 deadline. There is no other logical way to interpret what he wrote.
In short: You, sir, are the one being dumb in this case.

Also, alpha > beta.
Your right alpha players "supported" notch...On the other hand. Smart people just pirated the game and let you "alpha" players pay while we get everything you get for free.

So what you're saying is "smart" people pirated a game from an indie company?
Pirating is good in some cases, if it's from a corrupt company like EA or something, but if you pirated Minecraft you are just such a low-life. I bought the game for $15! That's not alot.

Why does that make me a low-life. Lets go look at your history and see what you have pirated. Just because its from a indie developer doesnt make it any worse that pirating from someone like sony.

You would get the full done Minecraft for free..
you wouldn't have to give more money..

I'm a beta buyer and I am not mad.
I also very much would not want a blue cape that said "good sport". THAT would make me mad.
if you are playing now you are beta tester ^^
i have been playing MC since alpha ... tho i could not buy the game for a long time and bought it during 1.3
and notch said something about none DLC's comming out ... thats what i heard
Hey i fixed your post for you. I found quite a bit of errors. No need to thank me im here to help. :biggrin.gif:

This is Mojang, not EA...
