I dont really care about looks, all i care about is if it will still launch sand and me into the sky
well it wont . . . . so yeah.
I personally think that vanilla pistons are not very good. They dont launch sand, mobs, or stuff like that. They dont move entities. The model is very ugly and makes no sense with water physics. And also sticky pistons look horrible.
I for one never used the Pistons Mod, Infact I've never heard of it up until a few minutes ago. So I am extremely excited about the new patch with them, The trailers for it looks sooooooooo coool!

They should add a 3rd type of piston that requires gold in of iron that would be able to launch sand, gravel, mobs and players in the air
I prefer the look and functionality of the official pistons, at least what I and others have deduced from the video.
The mod pistons are okay looking, but are way too overpowered. That's fine in a mod but for the real game I want something reasonable, which the official pistons are.
And the idea of the skinny piston arm blocking water is far less strange when you consider water is also blocked by ladders and signs. And an infinite amount of it spawns from what you can fit in a bucket.

Exactly, and that's the reason why I don't like mods in Minecraft. They are the creators idea of something they think makes fun, is new, etc.
The creator don't have to worry about balancing and pleasing everyone since it's a modification for the game; if you don't like it don't download it :wink.gif:
I like how the mod pistons work (the throwing thing was fun) but like the texture and look of the 1.7 pistons (other than the very thin stick of the piston, it doesnt make sense that they block water and lava with such a small stick)

I love how many people throw around the phrase "overpowered" when talking about these (including Jeb), yet clearly have no idea what the term means. Overpowered would be a weapon that is easy to obtain and kills in one hit, or wheat that heals 10 hearts and grows twice as fast or a diamond strength pick made with dirt that never breaks - something game breaking that reduces challenge in the game by a significant amount.
Putting aside the fact that there is almost zero challenge in Minecraft to reduce to begin with, Sand or gravel (or even the player) being tossed a couple blocks in the air is in no way shape or form overpowered in any sense of the term, it doesn't make the game easier in any way. Suddenly having this ability would also not take away the ability to build hidden doors or anything else in that preview.
Well, judging by the video, it already works better because you can make that hidden doorway; but with the pistons mod it doesnt work since a sticky piston cant push a block off another sticky piston. So it just looks like a better version of the 1.6 anyway. Plus they look cooler

I love how many people restrict the definition of "overpowered" when it conflicts with what they want. Overpowered means something has more power than it should. What pistons should do is push things. Launching things in the air is more than that and therefore is overpowered.
And i think that the 1.7 pistons are worse than the mod pistons.
What do you think?
it won't launch you into the sky in 1.7 update as seen
in preview vid. sand blocks sort of hop about half a
block in the air it looks like.

Can you use a texture pack when the update cums out?

God damn that is badass.

Sticky Pistons have been part of the mod for a long time, they aren't new to the official version..

In short, This (until someone releases an HD texture for it anyway)
It appears there is a furry in the perimeters.
You're missing the point that that would look horrible no matter what the pistons look like.
