And i don't think i'm the only one who DOESN'T want it.
You don't want pistons in vanilla minecraft? Then I think you might just be the only one...
Also, almost everything imaginable has been added with mods already, even though mods are not supported or even really allowed yet by Mojang. So what would be left for him to add that hasn't been modded? And there is no reason why notch should be kept from adding an obvious idea (which he or anyone would have thought of on their own anyway) to his own game just because someone else chose to decompile his game and violate the license in order to add a modification to the game.
And don't get me wrong, I love the hell out of our modding community, they breath life into this game! I'm just saying there has never been a modding allowance/license/support for this game yet. So notches hands cannot be tied by what someone else outside of his company chooses to do without his approval or license.
I would like to have all of the wonderful mod ideas available as officially supported/choosable features within the game itself. Then it should be supported out of the box after each update and we should be able to count on it working smoothly with the rest of the game. Our modders aren't being paid, so we never really know when they will just disappear, making our map useless for the next versions (like ymod etc).

I welcome any cool-looking mod as a vanilla feature because mods are:
1. Hard to instal, as opossed to minecraft's ato-patcher
2. Not standardized. They're nice for showing off, but it makes it feel, if I make a video/tutorial that contains a mod, I'm only relating to a few people.
3. Rarely multi player-compatible.
And last but not least...
4. That lingering "Darn it, I'm not playing it how it's supposed to be played!" feeling you get from a mod, however good it is.
So, yeah, the only mod I use is toomanyitems, and that's just for experimenting with implemented, in-game features.
Is it just me, or is notch adding mods to vanilla minecraft and almost no original content?
What's next Iron Furnaces and Mining Machines?
I don't know, me thinks a mining machine would be beast. A 2x2 drill that goes through anything and leave the item behind to pick up and stops if it risks falling into a shaft or cave.
How can you be upset over a feature being added? Notch is just giving people what they want. People saw pistons and said, "Wow, that's awesome. I could think of a bunch of great things to build with this!" And so people told the guy he should submit his suggestion to Mojang, and he did. I don't really see why giving people what they want is bad. Notch is still adding plenty of original content. Heck, he's releasing a whole new mode in the next update. How is that not being original?
If you don't want it, don't use it. It's simple really.
lol no it's NOT simple. Personally I don't like using mods that are game changing. There is vanilla minecraft, and there is modded minecraft.
I understand texture packs, because that's visual and doesn't really affect gameplay except maybe being able to see some things differently (and wireframe and stuff).
Mods should be optional. Like have a GUI menu for the ones you want off and the ones you want on.
I didn't like how Notch included all that freaking grass in the update :sad.gif:
It's an amazing mod, but I think Minecraft doesn't need something like that. We already had hoes, we didn't need grass.
this is kinda off-topic but I dislike(not hate, i just don't like it) there is too much grass. I mean If anyone needs seeds he/she should look for it. and If its for good looking then there shouldn't be that much grass.
How is Pistons gonna change your gameplay if you don't use them?
SMP -everyone uses them. Which is why "Don't like it Don't use it" is a bad argument. That argument could be used to justify something overpowered, like giving steve a sniper rifle that instant kills something, and either it justifies that, or does not justify this.
I'm not saying that you have to use everything in game, but know that others will, and SMP is a big part of the game. Use better arguments for defending implementation though.

I don't get it. What is so offensive about Pistons? They're a tool. It's not like Notch is coding in SDK's gunmods, Pistons are a pretty natural extension of redstone.
If you don't like mods, don't use them, and if Notch adds something you don't like, well, them's the breaks.
People have always wanted Notch to add mods to the game. So yeah, it's just you, along with maybe a few other people. Only thing Notch added by mods as far as I'm concerned is Pistons, Tall Grass, New Lighting, and I think that's it.
Also, everybody always seems to have bad arguments here on ze forums. Bad argument examples:
1. If you don't like it, don't use it.
2. Minecraft isn't realistic, so we can add anything we want, even if it's completely stupid!
Also, I think people aren't coming up with good arguments against pistons. If someone wants to enlighten me...

(That's a rhetorical question.)

This part of your quote made me laugh.

I am indeed, begin construction on the monuments to me. And make them shoot TNT from the eyes.
I could do that.
With pistons.
I lol'd, +1 for you.
The point of that was everyone has the ability to use them.
The second part was aimed at another post, sorry. It will only change your gameplay on multiplayer servers.
Personally, I don't care either way for pistons. I just want to see better arguments for when someone says "I don't want this."
