A while ago during Infdev, someone had linked me on Youtube to a video of Infdev making a house or something. I couldn't buy it, so I just kept watching videos and stuff, until I bought it in August.
YEARS ago before Indev was out, my friend told me about a game he found on a Youtube video. (marked on the poll as "A friend")
So I tried it out. Addicted.
The survival was monsters spawn around you and attack you. You can't craft, and you got 10 arrows but no bow. You shot them from your hand if I remember correctly.
You also get dynamite.
And single player was just single player creative mode.
That's what it was like when I found out what Minecraft was.
I was on Roblox (I like legos, I know the community sucks.) and there were all these odd refrences to "MC" Which I thought was master Chief. But when [user] told me that it was an abreviation of a word that is blocked on the site. I thought it was probably for good reason.
Later I looked it up and found nothing, so I forgot it.
I saw it on G4 and it was love at first sight. That has only happened with 4 games and I've never regretted it. I bought the game before the haloween update.
Sorry for messing up the second half, I got mixed up.

But then on Bungie.net, there was a thread asking who else played Minecraft. I asked what MineCraft was so [user] posted 2 youtube videos and a link to minecraft.net. It was one of the few games that I loved the first time I saw it. I bought the game before the haloween update.
LOL Minecraft is a word blocked on Roblox?
They do NOT like competition.
I heard about it on another forum, everyone kept on comparing other sandbox-style games like Fallout 3 and GTA to Minecraft, went to minecraft.net and saw a video of Notch riding a roller coaster.
Sand is WAY better then a diamond sword. What's better than diamond? Nothing.
But sand is better than nothing, right? Diamond < Nothing < Sand. Thusly, sand is better than a diamond sword.

Same story with me except I was over in the scripters forum, and someones like I have a craftmine server! And I say "what's craftmine" then they say that it is an epic game. Then I got it.

Youtube - JJ5x5, Coestart, paulasouresjr., and FiendishedUniverse were the first people who played MINECRAFT I had ever seen on YouTube, JJ5x5 was the ABSOLUTE first, then paul, Coe, and Fiendished... =P
I saw screenshots of it randomly online and since I'm into webcomics (call me a geek) and since several webcomics including Penny Arcade make Minecraft-related comics I decided to look into it. So I ended up pirating it up and then ended up buying it.

I was the second person to use the avatar I have. The rest took it from me. The first I asked, he said yes.
I know what I'm doing. I plan ahead, or get tired and screw up everything.
