Some people like me didn't even know what Minecraft was until Beta :/ I bought it as soon as I found out about it, which was in Beta 1.1_02.
While this is unfortunate for you, it is in no way relevant. I'm sure I have missed many many special offers and deals on things I would like to have, but I'm not going to whine about not getting in on them. You missed the deal, for whatever reason, and that's all that matters. It ended, the offer changed - why is this discussion still going?
I understand that we have some very young kids on these forums who may not necessarily understand how limited time offers work, but seriously there shouldn't be this much confusion over it.
so, if notch makes bad mistake towards beta, then:
Alpha=stay=(beta-DLC)
if notch screws over the alphas, a FEW leave.
if notch screws over the betas,
MILLONS LEAVE.
and MILLONS OF DOLLARS leave his income empty.
popularity plummets, and his bussiness is screwed.
see how bad this could be?
Because they're too poor to buy the DLC? Even if they have to pay more or even pay it doesn't mean millions wouldn't buy it. Maby if every single Beta tester is 12 years old and they have to cry to their parents for it, then yes, it would be terrible. And plus Notch is already rich as hell, he's pretty much set for life.

Ever have the feeling your being watched? No, don't look behind you. I SAID DON'T.
mad beta buyers are mad. I bought the game during alpha stage. I didn't know I'd get DLC for free, yet I profited. is it fair? no. is life fair? no.
deal with it

The thing is, we're mad that you guys are getting the DLC for free but we aren't. I don't mind buying it, I'm just a little pissy about you guys getting it for free just because.

I agree with pretty much everything you (and the other alpha-ers) have been saying, except for this.
Supporting a promising-yet-struggling independent developer in the fledgeling stages of their first game game is classy, and while I'm not sure that the supporters are intrinsically entitled to anything, I do believe that it's a smart (and nice) move on the developer's part to offer something in return for their early involvement and financial support to make the final product possible. At the risk of sounding like a corny presidential campaign slogan: I'm a beta-er, and I support Notch's decision to provide cool stuff for early adopters.
That being said, I think that everyone is entitled to free bug fixes. Everyone here (presumably) paid for the product, and it's the job of the developer to make sure that that product is functioning as promised. People make mistakes, and that's fine - but the consumer shouldn't be penalized for it.

Guys, Notch never said he won't give dlc to beta buyers for free. His lawyers made him change his statement. Notch has made his money, I'm almost 100% sure beta buyers will end up getting it free as well as alpha.

If you show me proof of this I will love you. But he did say Alpha and not Beta.
We're not "elevated above you". We bought the game during alpha stage, becuase we wanted the game. We got a perk with it. yay.
Notch stopped doing that in beta because he found out from the law guys that it could create complications if evweryone got everything for free.
so yeah, i'm sorry you're nopt getting the dlc, that most companies wouldn't give away for free to anybody. Chances are he'll sell them pretty cheap anyway.
Itr's not worth getting all upset and whiny over, we're not going to lose the dlc, and if you want it, you can pay whats probably a smallprice for it, when the game and dlc are actualy RELEASED.
You would be pissed to if Beta buyers got the DLC for free and you didn't.

No need to be suggestive.

Anyways, LOL this **** is still going on? Damn, I thought all of the dlc qq threads died out.
EDIT: Whoa, holy ****. This is from six months ago? I thought this was something new. Still I'm a bit pissed finding out about it.
deal with it

q_q I do the same

What?

You obviously haven't review the recent but same arguments in this thread is recent times, huh?
I've read up to page fifteen. I couldn't take much more of you snobby alphas.
If you show me proof of this I will love you. But he did say Alpha and not Beta.

Don't worry, you didn't miss anything new.
If you're last in line you don't get the first pick.
