I mean seriously a bunch of Alpha buyers come I. And start screaming that they need special treatment and BING it's there. Cmon us Beta buyers did stuff right?
It would all be ok if the DLC is stuff like the Aeather and only coast $5.

I am sworn to protect this image no matter what. Don't Ask
"A bunch of Alpha buyers" didn't ask for special treatment, Notch made this decision a while back. If you don't like it, you should've bought the game before beta stage. Either way, it's not up to you what happens. You still don't own any rights to the game and Notch could have cut short the game before 1.5 and said it was completed without needing an explanation. Be glad you'll be getting the bug fixes for free.
This makes sense. They supported notch's product in it's early stages, I just wish i'd bought it before I left. That was when survival was first implemented.
Off Topic ish: Did MC become beta before or after the halloween update?

As long as I don't have to pay for bug fixes and further updates, I'm fine. I can buy expansions should I choose to. However, if I have to pay for bug fixes & further updates after the release, I'm going to be very upset.
I would've surely bought in in Alpha, no second thought. However, this game isn't advertised too well, and I never heard of it.

Saying "It's not fair" is the same as saying "I'm an extremely immature and unintelligent human being, who is clearly entitled to every opportunity any other human being has ever had."
What the hell do you guys smoke before you post a topic?
Well maybe you could ask him to revoke those privileges, then? Seeing as it's creating a pointless rift within the community, sparking flame wars, etc. And you don't really even want the special status, right? Riiiight?
This is the only topic I've seen regarding this. Have you any other proof?
It isn't, and the only reason Alpha buyers are able to be so smug about it is because they're getting something other's aren't. They're Minecraft's nobility, enjoying elevated status they did nothing to earn, and they're certainly acting like nobility. If the roles were reversed, they'd be whining too.
In reply to your revised statement, I'll tell you what my reaction would be.
If this "special treatment" were revoked or never created, I would simply not get the DLC, or pirate it until I had enough money to buy it. Not every user with elevated status suffers from overwhelming elitism as you seem to believe. And yes, there would be people whining still. Really, what did you expect? An incredibly popular game with over 2 million players, at least 50% of which are young children; and the obvious logic that every human has differing opinions no matter how small the change.. Not to mention the wars constantly taking place in the Minecraft community between Better/larger updates and longer/shorter increments of time between updates.
Long story short, some will whine, some wont. I'll say it again. It's not up to you what happens, be glad you're getting free bug fixes.

Yeah, thought so.
It's creating a pointless rift cause assholes like you can't shut the **** up and deal with life. Very rarely are there threads titled "So I bought it in alpha, I get ALL DLC FREE???" No, its beta users asking if they have to pay, then complaining when they find out they might.

Yeah, thought so.
Actually, I don't see any flame wars over this. I just see you complaining that you aren't being payed as much as people who spent longer testing this game.
I also see you editing your post so you can claim that me using a gramatically equivalent but negative version of your sentence was a "Grammar fail".

Nobody KNOWS what you're going to have to pay for in the future, not even Notch. So get over it.
Only change is that he realised that it's extremely stupid to give everyone everything minecraft-related that he ever makes in the future for free. That's ALL.

This.
Or, more simply put, all fancy arguments aside, quit acting like you are 12. Life is not fair. Some people get privileges others don't.
Or, if you're going to be stubborn, I'll attach a silly little picture to drive home the point to you:
You know alpha players weren't always the first ones here, there are actually some people who started playing in Minecraft's near infancy; such as during the beginning of classic mode.
It would all be ok if the DLC is stuff like the Aeather and only coast $5.
Don't Ask
Fixed for you.
So at the time of making that choice, it felt logical.

The following is true, the former is false.
It isn't any different at all. Notch is rewarding those who took the time to purchase the game (or gift codes) before the beta was released.
Complaining that it isn't fair is just immature.
