probably something about his wedding or something else stupid.
More or less hit it spot on.
I'm responding to a lot of your comments today, it seems. We're both suddenly more active!
But personally, I think the announcement's going to be about a third game under development by Mojang. Remember the wording of the blog post:
Jens got temporarily moved to a new project
(Emphasis mine)
Now that sounds a lot like the way he'd talk when he was referring to scrolls back before it was announced. But if Jeb had got moved over to Scrolls, why wouldn't Notch just say that? Scrolls isn't a secret anymore.
It's possible the announcement will be about Scrolls itself, however - that's the only thing so far I've seen Notch say "I can't talk about that" before.

I really like the minimap idea, i was using a mod for that purpose but it kept crashing so i just removed it. That got me excited ITS WAY to easy to get lost sometimes, especially on a new server. I also will finaly get to mark or have a better idea of where i find nice landscapes and future building areas. YAY for minimap!

Yeah I am down with the minimap as well. I like the sharing idea, would be cool if one could share their maps online along with their seeds, for interesting stuff you find.
I was hoping it was some sort of foundation for a modding API (albeit I'm sure it will be extremely limited or not available until official release)...
It says it won't be "prohibitively expensive" (that part was edited in so it's possible you missed it).
I can see two reasons for charging:
[*:33763w18] Rather than issuing self-signed certificates, he's going through the trouble of getting some kind of official SSL cert from verisign or something and doesn't want to eat the cost of doing so, and/or
[*:33763w18] It enters Mojang and Mod-Making-People into an official business agreement. If he just gave out SVN access to anyone who asked, there's all kinds of assumed liability issues that I won't even pretend to be able to enumerate. If you've got to pay, there can be a contract involved that specifically delineates these sort of things. This backs up his stated goal of making it clear that the project is not open source.
My only worry is where do I, as someone who'd just like to play around with making mods, stand? I suppose I'm no worse off than before, but if everyone who's really into mod making goes official, where's the support network for those starting out?
EDIT: "Not prohibitively expensive" apparently means free, which I honestly wasn't expecting.

It is actually somewhat interesting, smartass.

Minecraft sold to Zynga.
If Minecraft was to be sold, who would prefer to have bought it?
Am I being too optimistic? Probably.
Update EDIT: It's about mods - http://notch.tumblr.com/post/4955141617/the-plan-for-mods

So he should worry more about the game rather then getting married?
