No, it's people that defend Notch as if he is their messiah.
While there are definitely some who go too far, I think there's also been some exaggeration in the telling too. (BTW the post I'm quoting from has mismatched [quote] tags, you might want to fix that. Sorry it took so long for me to noticed but I've spent the last several hours playing Minecraft (admittedly using more community-created content than Notch content :tongue.gif:))

So, Valve is CEO of Facebook. And Notch made Mark Zuckenberg with Mike Herrington.
Right?
Or was Gabe Newell in the Social Network with Carl?
I would have actually watched that movie if Gabe Newell was in it

BETA
"When we release a pure bugfix update, people get VERY upset ("NOTHING CHANGED!").. Adding features gives us much happier users. But I do realize that it's only happier users in the short term." - Notch
its OUR fault, we all gave him our money for an incomplete game, why should he give a **** anymore? obviously he doesnt give a damn about the game now, hes gotten payed. it doesnt matter how good his intentions were, or how much he devoted to minecraft in the beginning. hes got money now, and money corrupts everyone.
they will continue to add stupid garbage like bookshelves and keep game in production, so that idiots like us continue to buy it thinking "oh wow theres still so much more to come!"
good for notch for playing us all like fools! i applaud him!
Ha hah. To think that people believe that Notch reads these forums.
He will finish the game, eventually. He just does in cycles. Take long vacation, do a bunch of mini-updates, make a huge update, and then off on another vacation.
Minecraft is still in beta, and although there's bugs, look at all the non-indie games by companies like Bathezda and Bioware that are fully released and have very obvious plot-ruining gameplay marring bugs... and to this day have not been patched, except by the fans themselves in mods etc?
I LOVE Bioware's games, but I hate the fact that they don't put enough love into the game after it's released. Dragon Age: Origins is a great example... Fallout 3 from Bathezda is a better one...
My point is, yes Minecraft is buggy and yes, Notch may be taking advantage of his newfound wealth... really, who wouldn't? And maybe he gets a little carried away, but going from Zero to Millionaire is bound to make a person go into a little spending frenzy.
Regardless, as a whole, Minecraft shows promise, and I think Notch is dedicated to his game.
Though for me, it was ~150 bucks for me since I bought copies for some friends, plus paying for 2 servers for a few months that became unusable during the auth server's downtime, various memory eating bugs, and the server.jar that caused a nice little (pricey) RAID failure. But I shouldn't complain. Mojang has almost gotten around to fixing game breaking bugs that have existed since early Alpha! Awesome!

They couldn't have bought it themselves? I hope it was just a case of them not having a Visa and you purchased it for them to be reimbursed later. If so your theroretical 150$ wasn't just your doing you. And the server's cost Mojang didn't see a penny (unless they rent VPSes now) of so I don't see how they are liable for that nor should they care. Like Suing coke because your Wal-mart bought glass shattered and slashed open your foot after you dropped it...
Either way seeming though you are so generous and all can I have a lend of 9 grand? yeah it's totally not to pay off online gambling debts... Honest!
Still it would be nice to play SMP without the odd crash every 15-30 mins, I'm not even sure it's a problem on Mojangs end, it could be me but it's more likely Mojangs problem. IMO they can fix the crashing issues and call this game finished 100%, 110% if they create a GUI for server listings. they needn't add one feature more.
But really, aside from the chumpwad Ab' here, most normal people only payed a pittance of 15-20$.
People act like they pay the current one off price per month, treat it like a subscription and that they are entitled... No DESERVING of service of the highest caliber. The indignation displayed here to me doesn't seem to match the price they payed. They want a expert wine waiter for the price of a beer wench.
The haters doth protest to much, methinks!
And Notch party hard, try not to do too much heroin or whatever drug these troggs would drive a normal person too.
But seriously fix the bugs...
This is the second rant post to get necro'ed this week.
What the heck is the deal with necroposts lately? And why are they bringing up old flamewars that really ought to die in peace?

This forum ticked me off so much I went to random.org and set my password to something I'll never be able to remember, then switched my password reset to a throwaway.

Right now he's on the mini-update part.
