I'm not too worry. Sure, we'll have an influx of imbeciles for the first few months, just like any other brand new game that comes out. But once the bandwagon riders jump off, I think minecraft will just simply have a larger community. Plus, Mojang Co. will have more money to do awesome stuff.
What I'm more interested in is the fact that this basically means Notch has to have multiplayer working properly by winter. Should be great.
Minecraft on Xbawx will not affect us PC snobs in the slightest. Heck it may even cause a mass migration of tards over to the Xbox version. Because anyone who has an ounce of gamer savvy knows the two versions will not be compatible Xboxers and PC gamers will essentially be segregated now.
And if your main concern is with the forums... Seriously, get a life... Yeah and that's coming from me, if this forum was to degenerate in to a hive of scum and villany that rivals Mos Eisley it would really have little impact on the game. Maybe SMP will be hurt but there will always be a way to advertise servers.
you do realise im singling that guy out because he is always attacking Notch and promoting every competition as minecraft killers. It is rather obvious that he has some irrational hate of Notch and/or Mojang in general. besides just because other people are on the other spectrum doesnt make him ok.
and they DO have a point that it at its current state it is a minecract clone (note: this isnt a dirty word it is OK to be a GOOD clone) but I dont agree that they should sue fortresscraft.
How does it not transfer? people play multiple systems and people do spread the word around I bet there are many people that want to try minecraft but cant because its no on xbox.
Or... you know...
He could think those others will do better. Because right now, I don't think Notch has the skill to remove the bugs in his own game because he left them for too long and there are now too many of them.
Currently, it looks like a clone. Sure. Don't use that to dismiss it, since they have already said they are going in a different direction than minecraft.

It's quite possible for the network interface to be 100% compatible. (IE: the Xbox version could play on PC Servers and vice versa). The only tricky part would be if the network communications used serialized java objects, but I don't think it does. Mods obviously won't be compatible, but that won't be a problem since there would be no way to install them anyway. (thanks to the console's "round off every corner so nobody loses an eye" approach to user configuration).
- We'll get a huge influx of swearing, Xbox Live kiddies in the forums
- Who will perhaps start making ridiculous demands
- That might actually get listened to (call me a cynic)
Plus I fear that less time and effort will be spent on the inherently superior PC version.
These forums have long needed to be broken out into more areas. This will certainly be the case if/when such new audiences arrive. If they don't separate PC from XBox--even for general discussion--they'll have nothing but flame wars on their hands.
I myself am a fan of Xbox and PC, (I just can't play a first person shooter on the computer. Just can't), and I actually am happy that Minecraft is coming to Xbox. Im sticking with PC though. But since I am a fan of Xbox, I know a bit about their community : They are all srsbsns about shooters. Prepare for suggestions having a couple billion posts about adding guns.
Nobody here owns Minecraft. If you don't like it, OH WELL. You think Notch is going to crap on his own success simply because you don't approve? Thats a very "douchey." Everyone is being annoyingly alarmist for what little information we have. The sky is falling! The sky is falling!!
Sorry, but if you are going to stop supporting Minecraft simply because they are putting it on a console, that make you a complete douche.
It's amazing..we should be celebrating about how successful this game is becoming, and instead, a lot of people are turning into elitist jerks.
and I hate to break it to you...Torchlight actually works extremely well on the XBOX and it was also a PC-only title at one time. Considering both games have a similar inventory system, I can also see how they would translate Minecraft to the 360 very easily.
One little thing about Fortresscraft. I won't say anything about it one way or the other as I haven't played it, but..
WTH is up with that character they show you playing in Fortresscraft videos? Seriously?! WTF is that? How come I don't hear other people mentioning this? And what is that clothing he's wearing? I would MUCH rather run around looking like a cube-head Steve than to look like that freak in Fortresscraft.. I am just having a really hard time comprehending how the guy came up with that character, what kind of archetypes is that supposed to be based on? Might as well have a Shirly Temple avatar...
