Before the recent update, it was difficult to find a decent multiplayer server. Now that 80% of the servers are outdated, it's nearly IMPOSSIBLE.
On the few servers I manage to get into, the map is either completely destroyed, or there's 10+ moderators running amok, building houses out of diamonds, changing night to day on a whim, and handing out anything you would normally have to PLAY to achieve.
I'm starting to think that I'm completely alone in my belief that SURVIVAL Multiplayer should be about SURVIVAL, not spawning yourself so many resources that it's like playing Minecraft Classic.
All I want is a server with:
- A relatively fresh map.
- No handouts
- Responsible moderators
- Other like minded individuals
Is ANYONE running a server, or does anyone KNOW of a server similar to that? I just want to play with other people, without having to sacrifice everything that makes minecraft fun.
hah i would just like to see a server that isn't white listed.
also nice to see another Tennessean around.
Whitelist wouldn't be so bad if they actually whitelisted people who ask. Sometimes they get around to it after a few weeks, but usually they don't bother at all.
Well, I know I'm opening a can of worms here, but it's hard because running a 24/7 dedicated server is expensive, and if the admin tries to recoup some of the costs through donations and premium features, a lot of people start crying and complaining it's unfair and greedy.
I don't run a server myself, but I've looked into it and I'd be perfectly willing to start one up on a trial basis if I had some prospect of attracting dedicated players who could help off-set the monthly fees. I too long for a well-run server without admins abusing their powers, but in this economy I simply can't afford to bankroll a server by myself.
Yeah, the lack of actual SMP servers is the reason I only play single-player; why bother playing with others if the entire inventory is hacked and everyone is building things out of diamond blocks and obsidian? I can do that on my own in singleplayer.
The fun of SMP is surviving with others and building; there's no point if everyone has free, unlimited items

Well this is just me but... Water moats are so wet and dirty and annoying.... Real men make moats of liquid hellfire forged in the bowels of the earth and torn from the teat of the unholy adminium. Real MANLY Men create a LAVAFALL of death.

I'm in Tennessee, Eastern Standard Time.
Hah, probably not. Thanks for the offer though. :smile.gif:

Edit: Also the Admin doesn't spawn items. Everything is from the raw materials in the earth.
