Okay, so the new Minecraft 1.3 released not long ago. I just started playing again and I've noticed a major problem that happens to me...
When I went in my house to store some sugar canes I gathered in my yard, I tried opening my chest and the game froze and I hit the X. I re-entered and luckily it saved right before I hit the chest (with a right-click). So then I waited a bit and hit another chest in my house, same thing happened. I hope Notch can fix this soon... though the dynamic lighting is nice, this just ruins everything. So please Notch, test more carefully before you make an entire update.
And if this is just for me I'm done with minecraft... The update disabled the mo's creatures mod I had and all my horses dissapeared (I had multiple pegasus and black pegasus, along with other rare horses).

Mods are almost always disabled after updates. Need to wait for mods to be updated. Eventually there will be official mod support so this wont happen, but for now, just gotta deal with it. On a plus note the ability to CHOOSE to update when there are updates with the new launcher can help you decide not to update to preserve mod saves
If you don't want a update, try getting the version of Minecraft that allows stopping updates. Though now you should be waiting for mods to be updated, like the above posters said.
