YOU DON'T NEED TO USE A CRAFTING TABLE TO RELOAD IT!
You reload it with your inventories crafting grid!
The gun wouldn't work standalone! It would really only be effective in SMP. Pretty much the same thing with the crossbow, if it is added instead of a gun. Crossbows/guns wouldn't be very useful in single player, but would be very useful, very strategic weapons in multiplayer.
Back on topic: I don't want to see anything added that lessens the death penalty.

So you dont need to take it to a workbench. That doesnt really change much, since some people forget they have a 2x2 crafting grid once they make a workbench. (not everyone, but some people do.) Dont lie, everyone makes torches with the workbench at one point in their minecraft lives. Yes I agree that guns like these would be usefull in SMP, but at the rate they reload compared to the rate mobs/players run/spawn/repsawn/use melee attacks, your group would innevitably get overrun if you were in a field. If you were fighting players, well they are not likely to run straight at you when you have a one-hit-kill-ranged-weapon, they are going to stagger the path they are taking to you. They dont even need to get close to you if they are on a tower. they can just shower your group with arrows from there.
If you are in a base, they can tear down the walls. If you fix the walls, they can place TNT around your base, forcing you to either leave or be blown to bits. If you manage to stop them from placing the TNT, they can always make a cannon. :tongue.gif:
guns = more problematic then they would be usefull in my opinion. (except in RL. then they are just over powerd.)
I think threads like this are silly. Okay, for some things like villages, the player has no choice if they would be in the game, so I understand that. But anything that the player has to build? Seems silly. I don't want airplanes in my game, but all I have to do is not build them. It doesn't matter to me if there is a way in the game to make them. If there's something other people want that you don't want, there's no need to go saying it shouldn't be an option; just don't build it in your game. For multi-player, just have a way to give the server admin a way to allow/ban certain things in the game, and problem solved!
Villages in survival mode= gay.
villages implemented with more interactivity and not slaves+variety like war trade or culture but all exclusive to the minecraft era(no new gay items like planes and guns) in a different MODE, meaning it DOESN'T have to ruin YOUR game in Survival mode, yes it would likely remain a Mod = no problem with it, really

I must say that the only thing im rely opposed to in mine craft is if thay where to ever add in promotional stuff. items, hats, blocks, modles, whatever. by this, I mean like the way tf2 has gone. drastically different i know, but its a concern for many games (steam related at the lest, yes i know that dosent apply to mine craft as of yet, but not the point) that i play. everything (in my opinyon) should stay obtainable in game, unless its part of a DLC or add-on witch you must buy =in this case, its a different matter because it is part of the game. Im talking about things such as buy this game and get exclusive rights to a new charitor model or shape... (or an account backpack with special **** that you spawn with or always have)
I paly alot of Tf2, and once you make the game have items you cant get / make a trade system for said items, it becomes all about the items, and the game losses its simplicity and after a time turns into an item collection thing. (i hate hats in tf2, but it seems everyone values them more then the weapons, witch i rely dont understand as almost all do nothing... wait.. no.. i will not rant aobut that here)

I would like to see changing weather (particularly falling snow), I have no issue with space/cars/excetra as long as it isent part of the main servivel. the nether needs more things in it to fear (as douse the overworld), but i wont get into that. flying, well hang-gliding maby. perhaps a zip-line, or harpoon gun like thing.
more stuff, but... meh.
as far as the crossbow thing- bolts made of iron are a good idear. id say make them slower, but hit harder or push what it hits back ferther then when hit by other thigns (give it a larger force multiplier or something, so its worth shooting at mid range- as you can tell, im not a programmer). the thing about crossbows is there reload time, witch is much longer. the other thing is there power- a bow (recerve or compond) is usily more accuret over distance repeatedly, inless you are using a scope or agustabul sight. id say ahve the accuracy be good, however I wouldnt like to see it turn into a sniper rifel. scope or no scope, i mean the projectials path and power. there is also the fact of there noise. crosbowes are much much lowder (usily due to higher pondage), so that may wont to be tacken into accont. perhaps the fiering noise would alert mobs outside of there normal range.

(no offence, but I couldnt help but noticing all the typos in your post. >.<)
Crossbows... the wooden gun... please dont make me repost everything I've said on this thread about guns. All it will be is a exact copy of my arguments against guns with some words changed to fit the subject of crossbows better.
1. Magic. He hates offensive magic, however, so it will be things like heal spells or growing grass and not "herp derp fireballs and freezing spells"
2. Mob villages. Whether these will be pigmen, goblins, or all of the above and more, they will be added eventually. There's even a regular pigman skin in the mob skin folder, it just has yet to be given a code.
3. "Realism" mode. Notch is adding a realism slider, with the far left being like Creative mode and the far right being the current Hard mode + Fallout's Hardcore Mode + some other goodies.
4. Prefix creatures. There's a difference between "unoriginal monsters" and "a bit of variety."
I never want to see any sort of advanced technology in regular Minecraft.

Its the way i spell, long story, but is a mix of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysgraphia and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyslexia. im a tad tiered of explaining it, but more or less when i try to use the spell check, things go south fast because some words look the same to me. i attempted to do this on this post.
crossbows rely are wooden guns. im somewhat opposed to the idear myself ( aside form the fact that i shoot recurve so im a tad bias on the matter), however its not a terrible one. high cost of ammo, and little advantage to it would make it balanced, but even then, if you are out of range of something ,as soon as you shoot it, its going to head in your direction. so a sword is a more viable option anyway. the amount of damage you'd need to put out before said mob gets to you... and with a slower bow, it jest dosent seem worth it as the bolts should never do enuf damage to one hit things. Id rather see more types of recurve bows rather then a crossbow (with the new types off wood now, that may be possible. at the lest ascetic wise if not function)

I don't want to see... BOATS! As in the boats we have right now. The boats we have right now can't be joined, built, customized, colored, or ANYTHING. I would much rather the only methods of sea travel to be swimming, land bridges, and full blown SHIPS that are supercraftables like nether portals.
Not sure if it was the intention of the OP to criticise current features but... I don't like our current boats. They don't "feel" like minecraft, they should be treated similarly to buildings: assembled outside the workbench.
While I'm on it, I don't want planes, rockets (beyond the present TNT methods) or submarines (though a boat that is really heavy and naturally sinks a set distance from the surface is technically OK). Air balloons... fine, those would allow flying cities and wouldn't allow adventurers to steer or move quickly but absolutely no planes, rockets, or submarines and rise/sink without dramatic player intervention (like giving your ship a leak on purpose).

Don't want magic. Just no. Maybe magical items, but no magic spells please.
No powered land vehicles, except for maybe improvements to the minecart system.
How to not die in a cave
*FACE PALM*
Quoted for great justice.
sleep would be nice cause you could sleep through those boring looooong nights. but you would have to craft a bed and pillows
or just do something else for ten minutes
I would ask for thirst not to be implemented, but I wouldn't complain if it was added correctly.
Hunger would be perfect in minecraft survival mode.
*Everyone else meaning me and me only.
