do you reckon its real or fake, and theres also this thread about it.
Proof thats its fake!:
P♥G: Is this graphical update something that you’ve wanted to do for a while?
Notch: I’ve always believed that graphics are more important than gameplay, as it’s the graphics that really allow you to be immersed in a world. The gameplay comes second. I’ve worked really hard on this new rendering system, it’s still got a way to go before it’s stable enough for release, but it’s something I’m putting all my energy on for the foreseeable future. In fact, I think the next year or more of updates will just be making the game look prettier…I may work on the game content more after that if I feel up to it.
P♥G: A lot of people are fond of the old school graphics that Minecraft has at the moment. What do you say to that? Will there be an option to keep the graphics the way they were?
Notch: Those people can suck my Mojang! People will always complain… The game looks better this way. It’s a compulsory update; it won’t be possible to switch the new graphics on and off.
P♥G: What about system requirements? Will the same computers that could run Minecraft before still be able to run it smoothly?
Notch: Well that’s the bad news. Unfortunately the minimum system requirements will be quite steep. Even after I optimise it more, I expect it will still take at least an Intel i7, 4GB of RAM and a DX11 graphics card to run well. Which means it will only run on Vista or Windows 7. It’s a lot more computationally expensive as you can imagine, so you’re out of luck if you have an older computer. Time to upgrade I guess!
P♥G: Is there anything you had to compromise or take out completely, to make this new lighting system work?
Notch: Yes. Mining and Crafting had to go. The world is very static now, but very beautiful.
