I think that we can assume that documents written several millennia ago might not fully align with modern society. This, and other reasons, made me into the atheist I am today. You gotta admit, I'm a lot more accepting than most close minded zelots.

Yes you are. I just dislike how he pointed it out.

Hello? Eat my tarts? In this cosmic dance of bursting decadence, withheld permissions twist all our arms collectively. But if sweetness can win- and it can- then I'll still be here tomorrow to high five you yesterday my friend. Peace.
In an attempt to break the 2 day long awkward silence...
I can understand the sunrise, sunset, and noon prayers, but what about...Asr? 45 degrees past noon? Does that have do do with something in Islam, or did you have to make up another time?

I like how you were so nonchalant about enterting the blinking Minecart:
"As you can see, I just ****ing teleported. Moving on. . ."
The minecraft day is 8 minutes long... what percentage of the "day" do you spend doing prayer activities (walking to mosques, praying, walking back to whatever you were doing)? in a 12 hour day 10-30 minutes of prayer 5 times a day doesn't seem that extreme, at the high end you're using about 10% of your day, still lots of time to do other stuff, it seems to me like in minecraft it would eat up virtually all your time because the day is so short. I'm just wondering if that is accurate? :smile.gif:
Not that I really care if you spend your time on something like this, making arbitrary rules for yourself to follow in a game I think is often a fun way to increase the challenge.
I can't believe the one forum where a religious topic is being discussed and didn't end in a flame war is the minecraft forums. Makes me happy to see everyone being respectful of each other. It's such a rare thing these days...

This thread is a source of hope, i believe.

i thought it was a sin for muslims to touch pig anything.
No but it breaks their "wudu", which is basically the level of cleanliness you have to have for prayer, requiring you to wash a certain way again.(so does touching dogs saliva, using the restroom, sleeping, etc. )

Like I said before, I carry a makeshift rug, and don't pray at the mosque if it's not in my sight. Also, I don't actually do a full prayer but instead a short "duah". So the mosque is more for show.

It's actually defined as "when a posts shadow is it's height longer than it is at noon". But with my genius calculation skills I figured that out to be 45 degrees past noon. And we don't actually do the worshipping because of the sun, we just use the sun as a way to measure a unified time for prayer. Just like how we dont fast during ramadan for the moon, the times are just based on easy to find times based on the sun. (Correct me if I'm wrong here.)

Finally, someone else who's agnostic! Even if it is over the internet...but at least I know I'm not alone (My parents aren't even agnostic.)
And Solomon, ignore any bigoted, anti-Muslim comments. I simply don't understand people who are anti-Muslim.
tl;dr I thought it was running around like a creeper exploding people's creations and screaming: "ALLAH!"
Except not in that order.

Cool! I figured as much about the unified time idea. I like it =)
Your time checking building makes me wish minecraft had directional shadows.

I know... Same here. I had actually built it not realizing there wasn't, it was supposed to function with the shadows. That was followed by a couple of seconds of feeling stupid and a couple more of digging a hole in the center and putting a halfstep in it.

Forgive my ignorance, but I have no idea how long a duah takes to do :tongue.gif:
you basically get it done with in a few seconds? I'm just wondering how much this actually handicap's your play (I don't mean that in a negative sense, in the sense of choosing to go running with a heavy backpack for example).
It's kind of amazing that I've learnt more about Islam and Muslims in a game forum about blocks and exploding shrubbery than anywhere else. Props to you Soloman212.
So although it was done by Muslims way back in the time when that was the normal way to kill people, it is not taught by Islam. And on top of that those Muslims were doing the horrible and evil act of stoning people while the Christians were walking around lobbing peoples heads off and doing other terrible torture methods. Take your pick: http://www.jesusneverexisted.com/murderers.htm
I would usually ignore comments like this but sorry, this one really rubbed me the wrong way. Have a nice day.
i don't think he is talking about the bible and the quran but what is actually practiced today.

They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I told them I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said welcome aboard.

On the topic of Amish I guess they shouldn't use redstone. Emphasis on guess.
