This is pretty neat. I never really thought of this since, being Christian, all I could really do is celebrate holidays and avoid eating meat on Good Friday. Avoiding food waste is pretty easy since I can keep a piece of beef in my pocket forever.
Maybe I could close down my NPC breeding farm... I managed to breed so many that 4 iron golems spawn, and I sold some fool two double chests' worth of paper for tons of emeralds. However, I did make a nice smaller version of Notre Dame Cathedral all out of smooth stone.
I think I've found inspiration for the religious centre in my city construction challenge world. Those buildings are gorgeous. Thanks for posting them!

Watch me mine for crafts, craft mines, fall down shafts and do a bunch of other things that may or may not involve blocks.
I use compass for the qibla and cauldron for vassu i put green wool as carpet and use shift so he bows and i do namaz and my mosques are small like ancient mosques i never ate pork only once when i didnt have anything to eat my friend gave me i was forced normally i eat bread and steak and i use sheeps for sacrifices i also make graves for my villagers who get killed by zombies i bury heads and if i have golden apples i cure them and i dont use splash potions its cheating only potions of healing i use i dont do PVP only if i have to defend myself and if i killed that player and i have his items i will take 20% of it to build a mosque and other i will sell it for food and give it to other players who are poor or i keep it for me if i have to
Brave Islamic, Aren't you?
It's quite sad, many religious people are hiding in anonymity, bein' ashamed of one's religion.
You see, I'm a Christian. And I admire your bravery.
lol, my friends at school were discussing why pigs are haraam. One of the reasons we thought of (and this might not be true) is because they have no necks (they cant move their heads left and right). And thus, this caused complications in the slaughtering of the animal. But in minecraft --- the pigs have necks!!!
so we kinda ruled that they are halaal in minecraft LOL.
I think I'm gonna do this with Christian values. Sounds really fun... However I'll probably still do potions and enchantments (since I'm finally far enough in my world to do that stuff).

why would potions conflict with anything thing? also don't forget to burn the witches
About the whole Mecca thing, you can just download the Eastern Hemisphere map, figure out where Mecca's coordinates are, and then pray in that direction every day.
Not to totally derail the thread or anything, but I'm totally building a kennel for the dogs in my city. Thank you! Also, how does playing by these rules affect your ability to harvest building and crafting materials?

Long time no read people, but salaam again. I've kinda been out of the loop ever since my favorite RP server(s) shut down in quick succession, but I'll go through this.

Interesting. The burying heads is definitely an interesting idea I hadn't thought of, since you're basically burying their remains... I'll have to remember to add that to the OP! And you have to do it within the day of the killing... Hmm...
Also if you'd like I can add those pics to the gallery.
Hey! I'm Muslim too and I never thought about adding religious things to the game, although I already never eat pork in Minecraft because, urm, I just don't. I sometimes get bored of this game so I put mods onto the game but this idea is cool so I'm going to start this!
Also, I don't play much of this game, but Islamic scholars say that you shouldn't spend too much time on games - wasting your time, so if you spend too long being religious on a game, you are not being religious in reality, so WATCH OUT!
Good luck.
And following the rules in-game helps to remind you to actually follow them in real life and get up and pray. So it's better than just playing it normal, at least for me. But even in that regard, as you can see, I haven't been playing much as of recent.

It doesn't take much guts to announce my religion on a semi-anonymous game forum, the real fun is arguing about it IRL! But thanks anyways.
I think I've found inspiration for the religious centre in my city construction challenge world. Those buildings are gorgeous. Thanks for posting them!
The thanks should go to the engineers responsible for said structures, but glad I could help inspire, and good luck! Come back and post pics when you finish!
but its nice to see such enlightened views on Islam and religion in general, Hollywood has pretty much stereo typed Islam and Arabs and even Christians into something they are not.... glad to see that effect is waring off.
as a Muslim myself I don't generally play "religiously" but yes I don't like killing anything I'm not gonna use or eat and i don't hurt villagers (unless they bug out) and I just hate griefing unless players agree to it (they want some nice TNT bow/sword trap wars ), but all in all I play games to vent my enormous ego, and i usually just make massive castles near towns and expand them and make a port and a light house and place myself as their lord and king .
I hope you don't mean in honor of yourself... Although judging by the last paragraph I think that's a yes.
There are a few definite chances that need to be made.
If you are going to follow a religion in Minecraft..IT must be done HARDCORE ! You can not chose what to follow and what not to follow..
SO if you wanna follow the Islam way..
No potions as these counts as witchcraft(Using a spirit doctor to heal you obviuosly wouldn't be ok in the real world..so using witchcraft in MC is a big no no)..No enchantments..Absolutely no summoning of the wither..No use of enderpearls..No nether. No mods as this can also be seen as witchcraft or trying to become a god(Unless it is like optifine.)..No creative..No enderchest..
Reincarnation is also a big no no in Islam..That means you have to play hardcore !
Lets see how much you will be able to honour allah with theese rules
Ah never thought of the whole reincarnation thing! I should start a new hardcore file! As for the witchcraft, potions could be argued to be good old fashioned herbal medicine, but I guess that's just the way you interpret it. The Quran does say you can't just pray for health, and that you actually have to make an effort to get better, such as with medicine and rest and whatnot. Also the Nether is much too fun an aspect of the game to cut out. But look at it this way: I'm not conspiring with the Jinn, I'm attacking them in their own home world!
Whether you're serious with this post or not, it's actually all very interesting.
If you can't eat it then it's not considered food, then you can throw it away. At least in minecraft sounds thtat way, not questioning your religion, wich of course you know more of than me.
Yeah I asked a shekh about this, and I thought I put the results in the OP, but I guess not. We're allowed to throw away haram foods, such as those that contain pork or alcohol.
Not to totally derail the thread or anything, but I'm totally building a kennel for the dogs in my city. Thank you! Also, how does playing by these rules affect your ability to harvest building and crafting materials?
Well it usually doesn't effect it at all, unless you consider the time it takes to follow some of the rules, which I guess would take away from possible mining time.
Hello? Eat my tarts? In this cosmic dance of bursting decadence, withheld permissions twist all our arms collectively. But if sweetness can win- and it can- then I'll still be here tomorrow to high five you yesterday my friend. Peace.
I look at potions as falling into three ethical/moral groups (roughly).
Some potions save your life and act like true medical treatments. Regeneration potion, instant healing potion, weakness potion (as applied to villager zombies to "cure" them of their fearsome disease). You should feel free to use these potions anytime you need them.
Some potions prevent a condition or hazard or improve an existing innate ability. They act like vaccines or vitamins do to prevent disease and enhance normal function. Fire resistance, damage resistance, and strength potion are examples of this type. You should be able to use them prudently but they can be unbalanced and therefore "unnatural" if used excessively. Fire resistance potions making you totally immune to fire for 3 or 8 minutes seems far-fetched, I think if any of these are borderline unfair, it's that one.
Lastly some potions give unnatural enhancements that are meant to give the player an unbalanced advantage over nature. Invisibility, night vision, speed, jumping, and poison/harm potions give the player something they would not ordinarily be able to do under any circumstances, and are heavily used to take advantage of other players or distort the game experience. They should probably not be used in an idealist ethical/moral/doctrinal system. This goes for any religion or sect.
I don't know if it's equally unethical/immoral, in a simulated religious Minecraft experience, to be able to craft a block or item that grants night vision (e.g. infrared goggles) or speed (a car or skateboard or something). I would think having a permanent item that grants the same bonus as a temporary potion, probably would make it more immoral, not less.
This assumes that players walking to their destinations in unadorned, un-enchanted armour is to be the measure of things.
Reply to: But of course there is the question: What if I don't have the ability to make a compass at the time? Then of course I just pray any direction, just like in the real world. (Correct me if I'm wrong here.)
Actually, if you do not know where the Ka'aba is, you pray towards the direction in which the sun sets.

That sounds... religious, in its own regard. XD
Some people would consider that playing Islamicly.

The constitution didn't say anything about automatic weaponry, but we adapt, improvise, and overcome!
