I also have to say that not being able to eat pork/meat SUCKS.
I'm not sure if you're talking about minecraft or in general. If you mean in the real world, I can in fact eat meat. (And if you were talking to vegetarians in general and not to me, oh. Sorry.)

Hello? Eat my tarts? In this cosmic dance of bursting decadence, withheld permissions twist all our arms collectively. But if sweetness can win- and it can- then I'll still be here tomorrow to high five you yesterday my friend. Peace.
It would be an interesting challenge to start a world on Normal and have no animal killing at all. Plants OK, but nothing else.
So, no leather armour or pork of course. Also, no string (no killing spiders) so no bow and no arrows (though you don't need it) and no fishing pole. Animals may become a nuisance, but killing them, pushing them off cliffs an so on is a no-no - deal with them in other ways.
And cave exploration becomes a real challenge. Best bet is probably to wall off caves in sections, effectively pushing hostiles out of the areas you want to explore. And you'd better make _very_ sure your areas are all very well lit. Armour and food becomes important, which means growing wheat and using a fair amount of your metal for protection.

I don't think you understand what we're talking about. Unless you do, and you're just putting up something slightly off topic. Either way... I wouldn't bother ever trying to do that. And besides, would giant spiders and zombies really count as animals?

This is a very interesting thread that's giving me good insight into how other people play games, especially related to religious beliefs. I'm also curious as to how heavily moderated this thread is because it seems very civil.
One thing I was thinking about:
So far that is all I actually considered. As for Ramadan and fasting: The Sun and Moon don't have phases and don't change position (Anti-respectively) so I have no way of calculating the time of year, and can therefore not fast on Ramadan nor celebrate Eid. (Correct me if I'm wrong here) And for pilgrimage, same thing. Although I guess it wouldn't hurt to go circle around the spawn every once and a while...
Is there a calander you could use to calculate the times for this? For example, every # of days you fast? Could you basically make your own calander or would it be incorrect and, thus, improbable to implement?

I do understand, and it is only slightly off-topic; several strands of Hinduism and Buddhism forbid any killing, as do some philosophical schools of thought, and it would be the same kind of voluntary restriction on the players' behaviour. A challenge based on a voluntary code of conduct.
Last time I looked insects and arthropods were certainly animals, and I'd be willing to grant the status on zombies and skeletons as well - none are plants or fungi, nor do they belong to bacteria or archaea.
I'm curious Soloman, how would your play style influence accessing the Nether? I'm admittedly not knowledgeable on any religion, but given that it's a pseudo-hell, would it warrant any restrictions on travel? And if the Aether idea were implemented, as a pseudo-heaven, would there be any restrictions on travel there?
I'd like to see this idea/play style reworked for Judaism, the Amish-faith (better word for that?), and Mormons.
As far as Amish-faith or whatever it is, (Although I don't think that's really a faith...) there are no electronics in Minecraft so....
And I would guess if you WERE Amish you wouldn't be playing to start with.

I don't see how so... I know what your saying, as in it should be brought up when we talk about religion but... I don't see any way this goes agains a rule, especially seeing as it is only modeled after how Christians perceive hell, and was specifically said not to actually be it. (Although we all know only said that to be politically correct...)

Ok sorry. Just checking. It just seemed really blunt and random. But yes. And I guess your right about the spider, although Creepers ARE made of grass according to notch... =

I think this sounds rather fun Soloman and I wish you the best of luck.
Five prayers a day may be a tad excessive given that a minecraft day only lasts for 10 or so minutes, perhaps make it Four/five during the course a whole day/night cycle?
Sunrise, midday, sunset, midnight, etc.
I'm doing something similar in my second world, except I'm playing as an eco-warrior/vegan/gypsy.
Quite possibly as far as I can get from myself in reality, but it's actually been quite a fun run-through so far.
1. Thanks
2. Yeah probably... or I can find a way to shorten it in order to keep to the five prayer rule.
3. Good luck, although I can't see how not bashing in Creeper heads can be viewed as fun. Wait... How do you mine resources and play the game if you don't kill trees?

Yes it is eerily civil... Although I'm trying to avoid replying to comments about the actual religion of Islam and instead focusing on the game.
As for the calendar thing, just how the prayers are based on the sun and not on the time, fasting is based on the moon. (Lunar calendar.) However I might be able to get a mod that has the phases of the moon... But even then, how do I know where in the year I am? I know the frequency, but not the position... Unless I just assume when I first begin a world it's the creation of Earth and therefore the beginning of the year.

Wait... How do you mine resources and play the game if you don't kill trees?
Possibly by practicing responsible forestry and minimizing the use of fossil fuels.
I guess...
