Don't get too excited though, we don't have a correctly scaled map because the guys hav started this on their own and didn't know how to use mcedit to make maps etc. They made several unscaled landmarks and most of them aren't in the right places. Then they saw my works and approached me for help and I began to build 1:1 scale things, currently I'm building the Topkapi Palace, the one Ottomans used for a very long time. It's too hard though, it's been 3 days and it's half done.

So basically the map will be a collection of some Istanbul landmarks :smile.gif:

Pork in minecraft is basically the remains of the pig, right?
You could always BURY the pork in graves.

I think that would be an insult to food or idk, but does pork count as holy food since you aren't allowed to eat it? Shouldn't you be able to throw it away? Or is it ok to feed it to your pet wolf? We need answers solomon :tongue.gif:

I respect you for sticking to your religion, even going so far as to have those rules in minecraft, but it is just a game, and I doubt gods gonna care about what you do in a game.

Besides notch is adding steak and chicken soon so yeah

Oh solomon I have a question for you, forgive me if this was asked but do you play fantasy games or war games and such? Since killing a man or magic are sins, and you try to stick to your religion while playing games, I wonder what's your view on these types of games. I'm not messing with you honestly, just wondering that's all :smile.gif:

It's not holy food lol. Everything that is not permissable doesn't mean its holy.
And if you touch pork, you gotta wash your hands or something like that. I'm not quite sure.

Well what I meant by holy that every food god gave us is considered holy and you cannot throw them away or sth. Of course it's not like zemzem water or sth. :biggrin.gif:

As for what to use them for, MMS... I honestly don't know. You could just make it very scenic on the inside, with geometric patterns and such, and give it an inner courtyard, to make it a place to sit around and admire the beauty.

Ah no no no! I'm honestly really interested! Do you have a thread for this server that I can visit instead if you don't want to discuss it here? Also would you mind if I mentioned your server, egesagin, in the OP and added both your mosque pictures to it? (I'm asking both MMS and egesagin here)

Ok, ok, I'll come clean: After originally making this thread, I asked a Sheikh whether or not we're allowed to throw away pork since it's a haram food, and he said... yes. But I didn't want to take away from that aspect! If you guys would rather me change the OP to be accurate, you can tell me. But for now I'm keeping it. As for the wolves thing, you CAN feed it, and I already mentioned that in the OP. (It's in green, if I'm not mistaken, right under the section about pork.)

2 things: 1. I only follow the rules of my religion in RPG games, as that's when I feel my character in-game really embodies me. For example, when playing Super Mario, I have to empathy for the countless turtles I murder in cold blood, despite the fact that I love them in real life. ( I LIEK TORTOLS) Remember, I'm doing this as a way to add to the game. So if the game itself is not made to be manipulated and added too, like the campaigns of Halo or COD or something, then I leave it as is. It's games that give me a choice in which I can make the choice to begin with.
2. Killing other soldiers in war is not against Islam, if you're fighting for a good cause.

So I picked up a new habit lately:

Bury the dead. yes there are no bodies but in SMP I just dig a hole where someone died, place a double chest in it, fill it with dirt, place 2 smoothstone blocks on top of eachother and place a sign against them telling us who died here and when, followed by me placing a flower on top of it.

So do you pay tribute to the dead in minecraft in any way?

EDIT: I buried CaveDave this morning and made a screenshot while doing so (I can't dig out a grave to make a screenshot so I had to whait until someone died).



Yes, I know the pun.

How I bury them:
1: Find a 3 * 5 flat space of dirt
2: Place the gravestone
3: Dig the hole 3 deep, 1 wide and 2 long
4: Place the double chest
5: Fill it up with dirt
6: Place a yellow flower on top of it

Yes, I know there aren't any specific rules in making graves but I like to do it exactly the same way everytime I do it.

That's a cool idea raptor. It must be hard burrying all those deaths in smp though, especially if it's a pvp server. How do you manage it? Is it only like if they are around you? or do you do it for everyone? Neat idea though. and for consistancy of grave design.

@solomon: I don't think the wars and warriors in the call of duty series are for good causes but whatever :tongue.gif: Andd yes of course you can use them in the OP, in about three weeks, I will be done with Hagia Sophia too so I will post that too and you can use it also. But we don't have a thread for this server here since it's going to be turkish exclusive, and the server isn't public yet :smile.gif: But I'll talk to the guys and if it's not against the pulgins or something, I will take you guys on a tour of the server when it's done

Though I'm an atheist, I do agree it's good way of enjoying MC if you add your own 'rules'. However, I think turning some/most/all of these rules into mods would be a lot better idea. Perhaps, something like re-spawning in the Nether for a sin you may have committed before you died? :3

No, I don't bury every single people who dies in SMP because most of the times I don't know whether they die or not (and bodies dissapear so you can't go looking for bodies).

In PVP servers I usually only bury people when I'm not under attack, or I ask for a burial timeout.

Committing a sin doesn't mean you instantly go to hell :tongue.gif:

But mods... Maybe a mod that makes it so that bodies will not dissapear. That would make burying a lot easier. And maybe a calendar mod for keeping track of holidays and sundays...

Woah I never thought of that! I actually have a little shrine to all my wolves that died in the line of battle, (and one that was ambushed by a creeper while I was on a charting trip ) but this is actually really smart! If following the rules of Islam, you'd have to bury them by the next day... (There's also rules pertaining to washing and dressing the body, but since there is none....) However, what I'd do different is that I'd probably put a floor plaque on the spot of the grave, something like this:

Except it'd be half steps, (cobble was all I had on me because I was on a charting trip at the time) and the sign would be on another half step or something. But yeah, I like plaques.

Eh, I'm more of a thinker kind of guy, and most of the fun comes from thinking out ways to make the rules fit into vanilla. (Although that nether idea is really funny ) Also, I don't like dealing with mods. The constant updates annoy me.

He said respawning in the nether for sins you committed before you died; as in, every time you die, if you committed more sins than good deeds you spawn in the nether instead of back at bed.
