You know, I was never really aware of the basic details behind Islamic religious tradition, so reading through this was educational as well as interesting.
Good on you for figuring out a neat way to personalize the game for yourself.
This is fascinating, and any attempt to make the game more interesting without demanding more features hardcoded into the game should be absolutely lauded.
This is no more silly than the "no shovels" self-imposed rule. Or the "no armor" self-imposed rule. Or the "stay below ground permanently after day/night 1" self-imposed rule. Why is it "obsessive" that someone chooses to add an optional rule that has roots in something self-imposed in real life?
Requires no effort except on the part of those that choose to partake. Just like all the best things should.
You get a my good Soloman212, sir. I'm actually curious as to how I could follow something like this, and simultaneously learn about a culture that isn't my own, in the game. I'm not Muslim, I'm not even really religious in any particular sense... but I'm eager to learn and understand.

Interesting that you should bring that up, as I utterly hate when people are just begging for more things to be added to the game. I prefer to use creativity and imagination to make the game funner, both when it comes to story and when it comes to building contraptions. For example, I don't like using the built-in diode he added...
And I also am quite confused as why these people can't read my LARGE RED TEXT and realize that I'm doing this for the lolz...

Sick of Runescape mods for Minecraft that are horrible, awful, broken, and in some cases not even made? Yeah, so was I, until I got roped into the RSMC team. It's basically perfect.
the way i think of god with video games is that he/she ( depending on your religion) dosen't mind what you do in video games as long as it dosen't affect how you act or worship in real life. seeing as every one in minecraft builds temples to Notch, golden creepers, or other things. that dosen't mean your not worshiping them it just means your building buildings to random people. i don't even think gods even understand how computers work. i started a new game in a desert so i built a mosque out of sandstone. dosen't mean i'm a member of that religion. sometimes i built a church and another time a a random temple. point is i don't think the divine really mind as long as you don't change in real life. also bravo for taking your religion into count.
I'd agree that whatever you do in video games is a free pass(though whether or not it is a free pass is kinda not the point here), but I've gotta think God understands computers. I mean, if someone creates the entire world(and thus, physics), figuring out things made with those building blocks has got to seem like a piece of cake by comparison.

2) You respect Islam? If you did, you'd respect this guy's freedom to play Minecraft however he wants. I'm an atheist, and I applaud Solomon for his inventive idea. It's only a way to make the game more interesting for him and perhaps in the process deepen his "faith".

islam is a wonderful religion, even though it's been getting a bad rep as far as politics of the last few decades go, coupled with skewed views of islam presented by the MSM.

Soloman, i really admire what you are trying to do. I am a muslim myself and i also do things the islamic way in games(like not drinking alcohol or not eating pork). Although not as extreme as you I would certainly join a all-religions server. Please continue this thread as it is both educational and fun.
P.S I'm going to Umrah with my whole family next month! I am so excited! We went to a seminair earlier this month and this imam gave a beautiful speech about it.

It's cool that your roleplaying and pretend-playing this, but god forbid something like what you're saying gets added to the game.
