While I can eat pork, I would prefer beef since we have cattle already.
We have wool, so fashioning a rug should be possible and if could be applied like rail.
Yeah, I was really hoping we could make burgers However I'm pretty sure we might be able to find a mod that retextures the leather and makes it edible... Beef!!! Maybe even same for sheep: It drops wool when first hit and then meat when killed!
As for the rug, it's even better now because we have colored wool.

Hello? Eat my tarts? In this cosmic dance of bursting decadence, withheld permissions twist all our arms collectively. But if sweetness can win- and it can- then I'll still be here tomorrow to high five you yesterday my friend. Peace.
Let's end this before it turns into a religious debate.
As some Christians are not as slow to speak as I am.
I'm not arguing the religion itself, I'm just debating how to go about following the rules. As in, wether or not the rules are right I don't care. I'm just finding a way to implement them.

Fascinating topic, and good luck with your plans :smile.gif: I can see a ornate floorplan of dyed wool for inside your house as a place of prayer, and a dyed cube to carry around with you to stand on for the prayers when travelling.
And I'm very pleasantly amazed at the community keeping the discussion so civil and interesting :biggrin.gif:
I've never understood why people feel a need to participate in ceremonial acts in real life. Why you would choose to do this in game is even more befuddling.
It's as though you're role-playing your character, since a real day is different from a minecraft day, you really have no religious obligation to pray every 2 minutes (or more?) similarly the "pork" in minecraft is pixels and not pork at all, nor are you ever actually killing anything.
If you're just doing this for the fun of role-playing, or as an experiment to see if the ceremonial Muslim practices can hold up in game, then I guess that's interesting. So long as you're enjoying yourself in doing so, then more power to you. We each play a different way. But, if you're doing this out of religious faith, I think you're misguided and have perhaps confused reality with a fictitious second life.
I mean no disrespect by this post, I'm just curious why you do this in game, and even why such ceremonial acts are held IRL. I've yet to find an answer from any religious person beyond the simple answer that "the [book of faith that I follow] and some people say I should" or it's "tradition".
I know a vegetarian person who modded pork and changed it to tofu. You could do that? Also I think he modded the pigs to... walking... tofu blocks... umm... yyyeah... >.>

Like I said, I do this for fun, as it adds a new element to SSP, sorta like the hunger mod. I don't actually believe I'm obliged to in any way. It's just an experiment.

I know you're being sarcastic but this is actually a legitimate point. I guess everyone is constantly having jihad, by killing the zombies and creepers , which are pretty ungodly creatures if I do say so myself... And also, if PVP was on I would probably also attack anyone destroying my property or sacred buildings, such as my mosque or Kaaba I plan on building.

Also to point out to ... "Blastfromhell", a Jihad is traditionally seen as a spiritual struggle with ones own internal demons. The notion that a Jihad is a physical fight against foreigners is a relatively modern view (thanks in no small part to the media who have compared it erroneously to islamic crusade).
As well to Klaern, the point is restricting gameplay to make it more challenging. The fact that he has decided to make those restrictions based upon his religions ethical code is not surprising. For example, a Buddhist may decide to play Minecraft from a pacifists point of view, never attacking anything.
As the night fades to day, the moronic, racist and faithist trolls began to rear their ugly heads.
Reports aside and done, as requested by a forum mod at the beginning of this post, I'm actually really interested and impressed about the whole thing.
I always find it interesting when people bring their own "trials and tribulations" into a game such as minecraft, especially when it's religious things. Even more so when it's a religion I'm not too familiar with.
Would be interested in seeing some pics of your prayer carpet and buildings if you don't mind :smile.gif:.

I personally think having 5 prayers each minecraft day is a bit excessive, simply because I would think a prayer would have to be a bit more 'serious' and thus take more time. I would personally, were I to follow your premise, do it once a day but do it for a full minute each day.
However, if you do wish to do it five times each day, I would set up a dome in your house with 5 holes in it, with each one facing the sun at the appropriate time of prayer. This way, if you stand right in the middle, you could time your prayer exactly on the dot rather than have to estimate with the low quality watch.
I do have to say, isn't it a bit much following your faith so strictly on a game like this? My faith very specifically restricts me from killing people, but that doesn't mean it'd be natural to feel obliged not to shoot a cowboy in the face every time I play Red Dead Redemption. I just feel like there's a specific reason that the difference between reality and virtual reality is so...distinct and argued. Then again, everyone else may disagree with me. It's just that I don't think worldly beliefs and opinions should carry into an artificial place, 'less it be a bit unnecessarily zealous, if not insulting.
Commodore, I don't think the OP is finding it a situation where he can't play MC "normal". Rather, he's experimenting with following the practices of his faith inside of a virtual world. I think it's fairly interesting and in the bigger picture, opens questions about how we as people interact with each other when we're outside of "the real world". Which habits will we bring with us and which are not needed or perhaps even harmful? (such as my daughter not eating "fake meat" in game. Would she be willing to stick to that even if she was going to die and lose stuff?)
As someone who takes his own faith pretty seriously, I find the idea of honoring it's tenets in a game that is as open ended as Minecraft intriguing.

They asked me how well I understood theoretical physics. I told them I had a theoretical degree in physics. They said welcome aboard.

Each to his own on this one.
(The same could be said irl,I often kill animals I find overpopulated and spread the bodies through the forest to feed the trees and the scavengers)
Is that considered heathenism? :<
