Most modders have something called TIME, Notch has a life, not saying modders don't. But Notch has other things to do, and less time. And that ''office'' you're talking about isn't Microsoft, it only has 5-10 people in it. And if you think those updates are SO amazing download them. Also note that Notch didn't plan on the game getting this popular. So he didn't care for thinking about popping updates out the ass.
Notch quit his job to develop this game. He's making money based off of the service of updating the game. He as also hired people to help him with this.
Notch is the developer of the game, and he's also the "CEO" of Mojang Specifications. Therefore, that's his job.
Modders are adding more content more efficiently than Notch. And this is Notch's job.
He also made Minecraft. Not sure if modders made that yet.

Wait a second,
9/11/2001
remove the zeroes and you get 21, get rid of the 9 and you have 1121 then add two more twos for luck and..
those are all the numbers needed to make 12/21/12.
oh my gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooood

Notch is terrible at his job.
Might I also add that they're thousands of modders and only a handful of people working on Minecraft. So of course the modders are doing better.
No Notch: No game.
No Notch: No buggy as hell Beta versions that I'm not convinced he even tested much.
I'm not saying the man doesn't deserve SOME applause for making the game, but by the looks of it, modders care more about his game than he does.
Ok if you had half a damn brain cell in that communist supporting head of yours you'd realize that one person, or even a team can only get so many bugs figured out.... You know, people like you make me wish that just once Notch would release a completely untested updated just to watch you squirm as it doesn't boot at all... then not fix it for a month... changing the code in a game is like breaking your thumbs then trying to play an Xbox. yes you can do it but it brings up a lot of new problems... and when you try to do it in public the results will be different then in private. If that doesn't make any sense think about the last time you fell on your face at home, now think about the last time you fell on your face in front of your friends, different reaction huh?
Video games work the same f**king way. A game will always react differently on the field then it does in the lab. In other words, the game still has a few bugs to work out... and as for your previous comment about Notch playing video games all the time... what proof do you have that he does??? You don't! And so what if he does, at least he's not some sad lonely loser sitting in their basement crying and complaining to a forum that will get no results while tear jerking the whole way! And lets not forget that we never said you had to buy the game.
This concludes my rant!

I have one thing to say.
You imply that everyone angry at notch is a basement dwelling geek, when you spent 10 minutes writing out a massive rant flaming someone for suggesting notch doesnt bug test.
Also, I ask you who else is a basement dwelling tear jerking geek?
Half of the notch fanboys.
1 Notch with ****loads of money (and Swedish taxes upwards of 30-50% and paypal fees and website fees and server fees, and starting a new company, etc.) and the game as his job (which he actually has been working on.)
100,000 individual modders using their home computers. working on mods in their free time (piggybacking on the platform Notch built from scratch.)
If Notch had not made this game in the easily-decompilable Java, there would only be graphical and sound mods right now, essentially. This thread almost makes me wish he had not made it this easy to mod the game. Then there wouldn't be idiots crying about modders doing better than Notch. They'd just be whining because they haven't gotten X yet. But they wouldn't be able to compare Notch's output to that of hundreds or thousands of people, like it's some kind of fair comparison.
Man, one day the complainers will get fed up. One day, one person who isn't all talk will actually step up and put his money where his mouth is and actually make a goddamn game instead of complaining all the time about how the game he paid a mere $15 for doesn't cater to his every whim (and only his whim, as any update not in accordance with his wishes is obviously worthless). Someone who understands the difference between making a mod and making an entire engine.
And I look forward to that day. If that person does it well, it'll get accolades and recognition, and people will flock to it.
And then on that day, on that glorious glorious day, that complainer will discover a community of people
JUST.
LIKE.
HIM.
(Only even worse, because they're not even going to do anything about their complaints!)

But seriously, you deserve a pat on the back.
Well credit goes to Notch for making this game that the modders can mod. The mods aren't all that special, it was bound to happen after some time and they will progressively get better, and they are tuned to players tastes. However the platform that allows these things is a lot more special. For example, Garrysmod is essentially a platform for custom game modes. Does that mean that the one game mode everybody plays is better than garrysmod? No! This is because the mod is IN the platform.
Actually Notch didn't make it so that minecraft support mods, people just figured out how to do it.
and Notch actually said somewhere that he didn't want the game modded until him, himself placed an official mod loader for minecraft.
AND i agree with OP that modders have done what notch could have done but never did, and they did it before notch can get up his ass from playing gaemslol and not giving us what we all want which is updates.
lololololo umad comunity of minecraft??????
I completely agree thoug hI can't gigure out how to install htese mods to save my life since right now the yare were for alpha and not beta. I really need that mod loader
He also made Minecraft. Not sure if modders made that yet.
lol'd
Notch should hire programmers like Valve does. Get the best people behind the best mods!
Notch hiring like valve =

"When we release a pure bugfix update, people get VERY upset ("NOTHING CHANGED!").. Adding features gives us much happier users. But I do realize that it's only happier users in the short term." - Notch
Ah, I get it all now. The Op is saying that these 100 modders should take over from Notch. That will speed things up!
I'll agree that you need to have mods to run a decent server (*tips hat to all modders).
The question remains, have any of these people e-mailed Notch with their code and said "Hey, I did this, people find it cool do you want to use it?".
Notch might also think it looks silly if he codes something in other people have made as a mod, as that might look like hes copying ideas, rather than developing his own. Besides, why code something in if he can add other things while people meanwhile use mods.
Anybody know those really big trees that we get from time to time? Well those were originally made by a modder and notch liked them so much he added them to the game.

FIRST U NEED 2 ADD A NEW MOB CALLED THE CRYBABY. IT IS A EPIC MONSTOR THAT DOSEN'T DO ANYTHING BUT IT MAKE A BUNCH OF NOISE WHENEVR PEOPLE IS NEARBY
YOU CANT KILL THE CRYBABY BUT YOU CAN COLLECT ITS TEARS USING A BUCKET
USE THE TEARS LIKE SO:
[] []
THE WATER IS THE TEARS
WHAT U DO IS COLLECT A BUNCH OF TEARS AND SURROND IT WITH MEAT, BUT U PUT A OBSIDAN BLOCK ON TOP
COMBINE THEM AND YOU HAVE A HARDHEADED MEATBAG
IT DOES NOTHING USEFUL. PUT IT IN YOUR HOUSE AND IT WILL CRITICIZE YOUR WORK. THROW IT IN A LAKE AND IT WILL FLOAT, IT IS A WITCH. KILLING THE HARDHEADED MEATBAG MAKES THE SUN SHINE AND THE GRASS GROW AND THERE IS A CHANCE THAT PEGASUS SPAWNS.
YOU CAN PUT THEM IN THE GAME FREE OF CHARGE BUT I WANT MY NAME DISPLAYED ON ALL STONE BLOCKS THANKS
kinda on topic and not flaming! but asking a question, i read that minecraft was made using an autocad system, me not knowing anything about autocad but from what i can tell doesn't that make making games such as this pretty easy? So saying stop crying and go make your own game is not a really good arguement because it wouldn't be to hard? Or am i completly wrong, if so explain it to me!
To all the people who are saying “Go make your own minecraft” someone actually did using c++ until all the fan boys started moaning because that excuse became void, now that the projects dead there starting to use that same excuse again… The moral is don’t say something that your going to take back later when someone actually does what you say.
Wow, so hard to make "your own Minecraft" when you don't have to come up with any of the ideas on your own, and you have the MC source code right in front of you to simply port over.

Yes, the modders have done some cool things, but then again none of THEM built Minecraft first, did they?
Modding is an accesory that makes use of the main body of work already having been completed.

Also, I absolutely love that every notch defender and their aunt jumped on OP the first page.
I couldn't even finish the first page let alone the second or third I skimmed through the fourth.
I will sit here and see how this plays out, also notch is awesome, modders are awesome.
