Alright what the hell is Notches problem... Why in gods name would you release a game prior to actually finishing the coding. We were all happy with Alpha but Notch thought that was not enough so he released us an unfinished buggy as hell update, which he had to patch 5 minutes after releasing it >.> Ohh and yea, he is charging more for it now than he did for Alpha. (Offering 25% off pre-purchase NOW LOL)

"Hard work never killed anybody, but why take a chance?"
paying to be a beta tester
it's kind of contradictory
a beta tester has no rights or claims to a complete and bug free game
a paying customer however usually expects nothing less
the 2 don't really make a good combination
that said it was no secret that you were buying an unfinished product and some problems during development were to be expected
so don't act so shocked XD
Hello Forumers. Look at that troll. Now back to us, Now back at you troll and back to us. Sadly, your troll isn't us. But if your troll stopped being so ignorant ego heavy and was educated he could be like us. Look down, back up. Where are you? On a thread with the forumer your troll could be like. Whats in your hand? Back at us. We have it. Its a handbook on how to figure out mods arent supported by Notch. Look again. The handbook is now diamonds! Anything is possible when your troll isn't an ass. We're on a horse.
Why is it that all of these threads basically boil down to "It was in alpha and now it's not, it must be done now! What do you mean it's still not done and you're charging more now? You never spent several months warning us that this was coming!"
Beta doesn't mean done, it doesn't mean 2.0, it means a different stage of development. Look at the last word in that sentence a few dozen times until it sinks in. Development. We'll wait while you find a dictionary.
Wow, fanboism is rampant everywhere on these forums. :sad.gif:
Haters are complaining about Minecraft or this beta switch while all of the fanbois are complaining about forum posters. Stop directing your hate at people. While I might be labeled a "hater", I certain don't hate Notch (I admire his work), and I certainly don't hate Minecraft (I love the game), but I do hate the concept of it being labeled 'beta' and charging more without much to show for it.
This recent 'beta' release is a sleazy move, let alone a little more laggy and buggy. Sure, a beta 'phase' is fine, but Notch upped the price without giving them much for their money by calling this a beta version. And yes, it will get better over time. But no, as a paying customer I'm not a "tester". If I wanted to test I would test and submit bugs and not expect to pay for that "job". I'm just glad I paid for an account when it was still alpha.
Notch is just nice enough to make the beta and even the alpha public. In fact he's giving us a sweet deal to watch the development of the game while paying a lower price than the actual game while still receiving the full game if you bought it in alpha.
I don't know what the op's talking about. Alpha is slow, had tons of bugs and crashed on me everyFIVEMINUTES.
Right now, the game runs perfectly. No crashes, no slowdowns, and works even better than before. So you can keep your alpha, I'm enjoying my new chicken farm and building a house outta SOUL SAND.

Actually by definition you are a tester if you're playing a game in development. People were selling Starcraft 2 beta keys for a couple hundred dollars for a while and later you could get one by preordering the game, it didn't stop being a beta because money changed hands. Whether you paid a cent or paid with your firstborn, this is a beta (previously an alpha) and you are a beta tester. That means bugs. That means things being fixed and new things breaking. That might mean a huge change in the game's code that screws up every previously created world. These are not fanboyisms that people made up to appease Notch, that is simply how unreleased games work.
If you can't handle that I suggest that you put the game away until it hits gold (that means "official release" since you seem to have so much trouble with development terms) so that the rest of us can enjoy ourselves.
Notch is just nice enough to make the beta and even the alpha public.
Being "nice" would be letting people test it and participate for free. There is no "nice" in "profit". <rolls eyes>
But I would agree that being able to "buy" in during alpha or beta is sort of like being able to "invest" in Minecraft's development. I certainly have no problem with that and happy to contribute to further Minecraft's development. However, like any business, when a company with investors doesn't churn out much work to show for it, investors will get a little nervous and/or frustrated. Sure, we all know it's supposed to get better over time and that this is start of a period of time when Minecraft will be in a "beta phase". But you can't blame investors for saying to the company: "we're not happy with the results so far".

Beta still crashes on me about the same number of times per hours I run it. No change there. The only difference I see in terms of stability/performance is that the client now runs a little more laggy than in alpha. It's not a huge difference, but it is noticeably choppy at some points compared to alpha that was smooth rendering almost any scene. I'm not talking about framerate, but rather engine performance for rendering large scenes. This is a performance difference in CPU calculations, not GPU calculations.

If you can't reply without being insulting, I recommend not replying at all.

If you can't look up simple terms like "alpha" and "beta" before you start ranting about how you're not a tester and Notch is somehow screwing you over by charging more months after he warned that he was going to start charging more, I recommend not ranting at all. Especially if anyone who points out these things is automatically a "fanboi" to you. That says that you've made up your mind regardless of information presented to you.

Jesus that word is used way to often on these forums.
He is charging people for a game. Its got nothing to do with being nice. We buy a game, we get access. Its that simple.
