PLEASE NOTE: I wrote this to give the community a nice little tip. please ignore any typing errors as i am new to typing stuff like this. thankyou
resently, i reloaded a new map on mine craft. i did the usual thing, make tools, make a cave, and go threw night 1. second night, i went out and decided to build a house. the sooner the better. to make the story short, i look up and see a lot of trees up in flames. at first i was like "aww man i have to move again". but then i starting going threw the burning trees and i find pork and leather everywhere! i decided to keep my house near the fire and i stayed for the third night. when the sun went up, i go again and this time there is bows, feathers, and more leather and pork.
the point i want to get across, wild fires are you friend. they keep monsters far away from you and leave you collectables, but they restrict you to extend you house toward the direction of the fire. (unless its made of stone)
the lesson to be taught here : if you see a wild fire, BUILD A STONE (or any NON flammable material) HOUSE there. you will end up having lituraly full inventory of leather and pork. :biggrin.gif:
(P.S. when i was wondering in the wildfire, i found a pool of lava so im guessing the lava started the fire)
This is very interesting, a fiery guardian protecting my house. I'd like to try this out but I've never seen a forest fire before. Is there any other way to make forest fires minus lucking out.

well so far since this is my first wild fire i have found, i guess its mostly luck. if the game spawns lava near trees, theres a great chance that it will cause a tree to burn causing a chain reaction. i think you can start the fire by yourself though but i think it may be alittle complicated if you just started the map.
One of the guys on my server blazes a trail with wildfire.
Literally.
To find him, I just follow the flames.
It's great for outdoor construction. For me, at least; there's usually enough light that mobs don't spawn within a night's walk of me. He insists on using wood for "aesthetics," though, which really gives our server the whole Detroit feel when his building catch on fire.
Oh man! I started a new world. I spawned in a forest, and decided to climb the nearest mountain to get a good view of the area. I get up high and turn around to find the entire forest on fire. Turns out there was a lava pool in the center.

No starting wood for me, there...
thats sortof how it happen for me. i found out the burning wood is collectable if you cut it down before it completely burns up :biggrin.gif:

or a bucket of lava in the right place will do the trick as well
be carefull though fire can spread a lot further than you'd like if you're not careful
I think one day you'll be low on health from a close encounter with said or and then catch on fire D:
