Besides... I'm pointing out, to the very end of my thread,
that PC's and XBox are completely different
Yeah, the XBox is optimized for 3D Graphics and large video game worldspaces.
While PCs are optimized for gigantic video game worldspaces.
Xboxes don't have enough RAM to do that dynamically, unfortunately.

So yes, its possible to do, and possibly profitable in the long run. However, it would probably be more profitable to leave minecraft on the pc, and make future games with consoles in mind.
You missed the part where I said a third party could do it out of the goodness of their heart for him in exchange for a possible place in the new company or some affiliation position.
Well, if he put it out as an Xbox Live Indie game then he could release updates for very cheap. (Or so I hear)
True, but all Indie games must be created using the XNA framework, which has it's own set of problems (haven't had a chance to fully check out XNA 4.0) that I'm not sure would be able to handle Minecraft. Not sure XNA would be able to to SMP, SSP could work, but I'd be concerned with how XNA deals with save files and may not like how big Minecraft files get. Again, haven't looked into the new 4.0 libraries, so some of that may have been fixed.
I think each update still needs to go through the Peer Review, but that should be a relatively short process in comparison. I think it is like a week or so, not sure.
Not to mention that indie games have little to no support that LIVE Arcade games get. I would bet anything that MS would fall over themselves to sign this to XBLA, which would net us Achievements, the ability to use any engine and not be stuck with XNA, assistance in servers, etc.

Why do people play with Lego without having tennis balls thrown at them?

Sadly, anyone who has played a mainstream release game on the PC has most likely played an XBox port. They make horrendous games because of the quality of the port, usually. Control issues and the like.
512MB of RAM in a console isn't enough for Minecraft. It has been stated. In this very thread, no less.
Try this: Run Minecraft. Gen a world. Pop up taskman (CTRL + SHIFT + ESCAPE) and check out how much memory is assigned as Minecraft's private working set. Usually this is >1GB on my system, which has 2GB of RAM. Keep track of it as you move around the world forcing Minecraft to allocate more memory as it generates new terrain. Picture how long 512MB of RAM would last under this kind of torment.
Actually, as I've stated, my 512 DDR2 RAM works very nicely for minecraft. Thanks.

I have 512 Mb on a FREAKING FLASH DRIVE. HOW you could run a game on that, I have NO idea.
Hook computer to TV. Get/create a driver for some controller that would give you mouse movement & a few keys (Shift, is really the only one you need). Ta-da. You can sit on a couch and play minecraft. Personally though, I'm quite content with my chair.
but i cant see minecraft being multiplateform.
like someone else stated you could connect your computer to your tv and then do this http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=17944&hilit=Xpadder
for PS3 and there's another tutorial for 360 controllers but really all you need to do is configure it to your computer.
But the PC IS and has been proven to be the greatest game system. Not only does it have almost every game that an Xbox has, but it also is better for FPS games. Not only that, but the ease for online play and easy accessibility of mods makes it better.
Oh, and the Xbox is SO easy to break. I had an Xbox for less than a day before I got the red ring of death, and it was a new one.
However, the Wii has Monster Hunter, which makes it the best console.
This.

Creepers. [SSSS] devastating our works of art since 2010.
Short time poster, Long time lurker.
Step one: Make branches of code for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
Step two: Spend months per update attempting to write new code in three different formats, more than doubling the length of the development process.
Step three: Sell it on both consoles.
Step four: Troubleshoot three different versions for no appreciable increase in fanbase.
Sounds like a good plan, guys. A better one would be waiting until he's done with the PC development and bug-testing. For all we know there'll be new consoles out then that will be able to handle it as is.

Thanks for the publicity. Also, I used 256MB DDR RAM before I got this $50 comp. Had a GB on my lappy, but it was made of AIDS and fail.

In a recent indie games podcast, Notch said he might do this in the future. So GG.
Mouse + Keyboard >>> Controller
This is like asking for WoW or runescape on 360
Wouldn't be much of a difference for WoW, everyone is already face rolling.
