Of course it does, Mines and occasionally Night scare me, especially when I first start and this some big mean mother hubbard comes from no where, stares me in the eyes with his creepy little green face and attempts to tear me a structurally superfluous new behind (Kudos to those who catch the quote).
Mining mainly scares me out of my own lack of intelligence, when I decide that mining straight down is a good idea and it just so happens I fall straight down into a dark pit, hearing noises faintly and catching a glimpse of movement.
Oh Minecraft, How do you always become the thrill of my day?
Yeah. It does. Mostly because I'm worried Notch is gonna do a surprise update (Not on a Friday) and add in Herobrine. I'm always double checking for him. :S
If Notch adds in Herobrine...I'm done with MineCraft...
If he does add him in, then there should at least be a way to turn him off in the options.
I get a fun kind of jumpy or nervous skulking around outside at night or barricaded inside a house with spiders about. I was creeped out when I finished crafting a bunch of things, turned around and saw a skeleton on the other side of the door .
Heights give me a bit of a rush. Just looking down, it conveys the height well. And you can't really safely fall as far as in other games. Putting on the walls or roof of a really tall building, at night, with mobs beneath you is pretty fun. Especially if you only have one block width to stand on. Walking slowly across the snow covered top of a fifty foot, partially build wall, with the snow coming down, at night... That would be a bad idea in real life.
I sometimes get nervous or jumpy but in a fun way.
Do you know what that sound they make is is? That's the sound of your dreams snapping as an arrow hits you in the face, informing you that if you don't run away as fast as possible, you will die. Quickly.
Minecraft probably has taken 5 years off of my life with the amount of stress it has caused me. The new mobs and making the game actually "hard" will probably take another 10.
The only time i get to play is at night because i have a shared computer. So i'm up late at night wandering around, hearing "BRAINS!" and hissing, and then sometimes the creepy dungeon noises, and it scares me to death.
Of course. I think one enduring aspect of why Minecraft is so frightening at times is the excellent sound. The sheer fact that there is normally no music playing during the game makes it very scary to play because new sounds will catch you off guard. Most horror games nowadays have some sort of a cliche sound effect or music clip they play when something scary is happening. Not in Minecraft. This game catches you off guard.
Btw anyone else feel SUPER relieved when C418's music plays? Those soothing piano melodies take a giant weight off of my heart.

Except, of course, when they pop out at you while exploring caves. The new volume sliders help with that though. Otherwise, his music is just great!
If he adds Herobrine... if he doesn't add a way to disable him, Minecraft will die. Sadly, I think I'm going to have to go back to non peaceful modes once this update is released if only for a little bit. Then I'll see Herobrine and go kill myself.
It is kind of scary when i go deep into mines, but it has only scared me badly once.
I was talking to a friend over skype, debating over whether it is good to dig straight down or not. He always digs straight and and nothing ever happens to him. After a few times of him assuring me that nothing would happen if I dug straight down, I found an iron vein and just dug down. Needless to say, I fell and lost half my hearts only to find that i was in the middle of a giant cave and spiders were jumping at me. I freaked out and tried to tunnel up, but I didn't make it in time.
tldr; Don't try to dig straight down. Not even once

Muncher is right, listen to him, he can cure the blind and make paraplegics walk.
yes, it does. I mined out a mega vein, then a pile of gravel fell down and i was attacked by:
8 ,
2 ,
a and
16
i had a mega panic attack and flew out of my chair. never ever going down that mine again.
If i forget to check TWON( 's blog) and come across a new mob, i will probably DIE.

On-topic: I get startled from time to time on Minecraft. Usually it's what breaks the silence. I'll be spelunking and suddenly you hear the cave sound and look forward and realize you're entering a dark, mysterious hole.
Another thing that scares me is random animals. Their footsteps are the same as yours, so I always hear an animal walking and I start running while yelling "OH CRAP IT'S HEROBRINE!".
Those damn Archer Skeletons scare me every single time. I am mining away and all off a sudden this blasting sound out of no where. Gets me every single time and gets the heart racing. I hate them more then those damn creepers popping up right behind me.
