this... until yesterday when I was spelunking for ore.... after about an hour or so I was doing it mindlessly, mined a rock and a gravel pile fell down and a basically fell on my face. I'm not one to react to most shocking things but it got an "ohh f*#$*" and a shove away from my desk outa me.
Startled by zombies/creepers or falling into lava, but not really scared. Then again, I've been focusing on building lately so I've been playing on Peaceful. >.<
Scare wouldn't necessarily be the right word I suppose...startle sometimes? Definitely.
Once I had dug out a cave in the side of a hill to make a tunnel for some water. It was late that night and the lights were off and my wife was watching me play (loves to watch me play Minecraft for some reason...requests that I play even...weird). On my way out at night, I walk out of the cave and BAM! a spider jumps me from behind and me and my wife both jumped.
There was another time I was climbing up an tunnel that I hadn't explored. It was a connected cave to one I originally entered and it was headed towards the surface...slowly...anyhow, I look up the dark tunnel and see the red eyes of a spider (I have arachnophobia by the way) and it gives me the chills. Luckily I could shoot it from the bottom without any real risk of confrontation, but it does make me uncomfortable some times.
it definitely surprises me a lot, although usually only when im exploring really big cave systems. on more then one occasion ive been playing while talking to my friends and then suddenly started screaming mid-sentence because a decided he needed some loving.
oh, and the first time i saw a riding a i nearly ***** myself.
Low on health and tons of good ore and didn't pay attention to how you got to the mine. Turn around a green ******* staring at you = oh crap!

"I love how supporters of finite torches say they want a more challanging game and then in later threads talk about using peaceful mode when building."
I played Single player for a week and had a blast (although scared to death the whole time)
I decided all I needed was other to play with so now I am addicted to multi-player which sadly does not have any of the ambiance of single player due to immortal mobs and players...
This game's nature of never knowing whether it want's to be an artsy, relaxing game, or a "WTF was that noise *pulls out sword*" game is probably what I love most about it.
This game scares the crap out of. It's probably just because I'm a wimp, but hell, a Creeper jumping off a cliff and plopping down in front of you, with a face that looks like it's about to say "WELL HELLO DAR, I'SA GUN BLOW YER SH*T UP NAO*" if SCAREH.
Definitely afraid of this game.
All I wish for the Halloween Update is for Herobrine ( ) to NOT be added. Because I am like a sheep when it comes to scary video games. Hell, even Metroid.
And then Notch puts on his troll face all like and I'm like and I don't play for a few days because of a scary new mob.

If a creeper jumped down on your face, wouldnt you be? :biggrin.gif:
My roommate was all "wtf is wrong with you?"
Lol, my brother was the same.
He was laughing his ass off :smile.gif:

Maybe we will get lucky with this update!
And yes, it has startled me plenty of times.
thanks to a comment Notch made a while ago, i will forever be scared when i play Minecraft.
Herobrine.
And so is lava.
Lava is bad.
