I read that modern day nuclear weapons are somewhere 50 megatons. You created a fantastic hole with 15 kilotons. 50 megatons is ~45 million tons of TNT. Want to try again? :biggrin.gif:
Actually that would be false. Due to Tsar Bomba being so destructive in power, i think the highest they will go is about thirty megatons. 50 megatons creates a shockwave that goes through the earth three times, and shatters windows thousands of miles away...of 15 kt killed a server for two hours, 50mt will lead the server to being down for well over a hundred years if its basing itself on 15 kt = 2 hours
1. Gather friends together on smp server to create detailed hiroshima.
2. Build nuke in center
3. ???
4. Profit from screen caps of a historical recreation on a videogame.
Then after all is said and done make server PtP...... tourists will pay to see mincraft recreation of giant nuke of death
I did the math and to recreate a tsar bomb explosion (a 50 MT explosion).
It would take 19,634,950,000,000,000,000 blocks of TNT to recreate that explosion.

Wow, this thread really got around the internet :biggrin.gif:
Rereading some of the resonces theres a few things people should know about explosions.
1. How big you can get most relies on your server hardware, if it cant handle a massive load of computations, you're not going to get very far.
2. Many people dont actually do single detonations for thier large explosions, they lay it out in a blanket or extended rectangle in order to stager the explosion over a short period of time rather than an immediate burst.
3. The 30 kt bomb I talked about DID get created, however, it was so large that the server hardware couldnt handle it and it was locked away in a vault to prevent accidental detonation...I set it off when the server was changing maps to "Destroy the world" so to speak.

if i tried to do that in singleplayer, the tnt would just spread out
then it goes byebye :biggrin.gif:

Ignore this, it's old
Biggest one I saw was 6 times that.
Time to get to work!

a gram of anti-matter is roughly 43 kilotons, detonation wise
and there are roughly 454 grams in a pound
5 times 454 is 2270 grams in 5 pounds
2270x43=97610 kilotons
so this would be 6507 times stronger then this bomb, i wanna see this get done
