Minecraft used to scare me... the first few nights huddled in fear, hoping that the three or four skeletons outside my door would go away, that was really an experience. Then came the caves. It always bugs the hell out of me when I hear something while running around through my vast cave systems. Something behind the walls.
Watching.
Waiting.
Now, I have a near-impenetrable island fortress. Outside of my safe haven, though, the mobs await.
They watch from afar.
Waiting.
I may not be as afraid as before, but I still think my walls need to be a layer taller.
That's known as the creeper moon...when the creeper moon rises what happens is...well let me say you don't wanna know what happens when there's a creeper moon...and it's late...and dark...and cold...*slides backstage behind curtain*
Also, this morning I was pumping out a quick 10-15 minute session and a chicken startled me very badly somehow...like really badly.

Yeah, sometimes the cave systems are scary, like when you have a perfectly lit large chamber with several dark caves near the cealing, you just know mosters could spawn from any of those at any time and fall in your head.
Every night zombies and skeletons party on top of the little plateau my shelter is built into.
Also, one night, I heard spiders. Two of them. When day came, I headed out and checked out the scene. Two spiders indeed. I hit one with my stone sword.
Bad idea.
There were THREE spiders on top of my little home. They were chasing me around, my security system of cacti doing no good. After running a bit, I run from a burning zombie, and then JUST near my house, a creeper explodes me! That was scary :sad.gif:

Take a 2 horned creature related to the cow and make it excrete its wastes into a bucket.
I honestly can say that I have no idea what you are talking about saying Minecraft is scary, and it's not like I play on peaceful or easy. I have been playing since Inf-Dev, and personally I have never been legitimately scared of any situation. It may just be me, but I have played Dead Space, Amnesia, and FEAR and those did leave a decent horror mark.
Silent Hill games (only 1-4) have scared me. And when I say scared, I mean FREAKING OUT and turning the system off. But Minecraft makes me uneasy in a different way, similar to Fallout vaults. I get real claustrophobic down in the caverns underground and panic about never getting back up and out to sunlight. I know it's ridiculous but that just terrifies me in these two games.
What got me the first time was after I'd had dug down a significant distance with no torches was the "cave10.ogg" ambient sound. It's that really high shrill suspense-ish kinda sound
Agreed. Reminds me of the time i was stuck in a dungeon with one torch and i couldn't find a way out. Also the first few nights when i didnt have any houses so i barricaded myself into the corner with no torches and i was surrounded by mobs.
We are naturally scared of the unknown, and since this game is in every sense random you will never know what will happen or when. And also when you are a few blocks away from a creeper but the creeper cant get you, it will give you a death stare. I swear creepers can stare into your soul.
Anyone else notice that?
's are more like T-Rex's. They stand at the other side of a deep ravine.

It's like they dont know your there if you dont move
What scares me the most though is when your high up and somehow get shot down to the ground by a and hit the ground. Either dying or being swarmed
When I started playing, I played on Peaceful, since I wasn't familiar with WASD movement yet. At the time, I was also watching Coe's Quest. In the episode, a spider jumps up from a dark hole right into his face. I screamed louder than he did.
I tried to play on Easy.
Then I gave up because I always get lost like, five meters away from my house. *terrible navigation skills*
But when I DID try to play Easy, I'd sit in my little corner, sobbing as all the creepers grin at me with some sort of stalkerish fascination as they protected the beautiful diamonds.

endermen are strong black women who don't need no men
Ambient noises used the scare the hell out of me... the shrieking, the yells, the weird noises, they all terrified the hell out of me, sometimes inducing "get the hell out of the cave" panic attacks.
But now that I know they indicate a 3x3x3 block of unlit cave nearby, well, ambient noises have suddenly become something I want to hear when I'm digging.
Also I jumped when I turned a corner on my minecart and a cow was sitting in a booster cart.
Lmao. Famous last words, "AAAAAAHHHH!"

Minecraft is scary stuff.
