So basically I am trying to build my house underwater. I have it all blocked in so that no water can com in from the ocean but there is still a ton of water in my house (house is pretty much filled). Is there a faster way to remove water rather than the 9 bucket method I'm doing right now which seems like it is doing nothing?
On the update, I used just one bucket to take out a bunch of water. Honestly, I just started minecraft so I thought that I would need lots of buckets. But, just one bucket was fine.
Sand or wool, depending on your preference. Sand is fast enough to break by hand, and falls which makes cleaning it up easy. Wool stays up, and you can break it ludicrously fast with shears (which doesn't even wear out the shears).

The best (easiest) method in suvival to remove alot of water (i.e ocean/river) is to get a heap of sand or gravel and throw it in the water until it is all gone. then once done dig down to the bottom, and place a torch (redstone or normal) slab, repeater, rail etc (half brick) below the sand, and when the sand falls on it, the sand will destroy it self - also edit the map with mcedit
