I've been waiting to reveal this to the Minecraft community in the form of something permanent... now, everyone can know that I did it first :smile.gif: If you knew about this before, thanks for not sharing because I've been playing Minecraft for a year and I haven't heard of anything like it yet. So go shuck a duck. Anyways, Minecraft is a game currently being developed by Notch (Markus Persson) and it's really fun so go check it out. And now that you know this glitch, you can amaze your friends and infuriate your enemies! Remember, above all else: IT IS NOT HACKING! If worse comes to worst, show those stubborn old ops this video as proof. Thanks, and have a nice day.
Interesting. I discovered something similar in an old infdev, whereby when you died you ended up rising up into the air. Can't remembered what I did exactly...
exploiting glitches has the same moral value of hax
And a similar gamey value.
So don't be surprised to find yourself kicked/banned from servers that don't allow hax. Particularly zombie/CTF
Well obviously. That's why you can't use respawning in indev, infdev or survival. And I consider Zombie and CTF to be different game modes too. If anyone honestly cared enough to get angry at me, I'd stop if they asked, but I'm still going to use it as often as I can. It's just plain better than making stairs.
I've noticed this before, but never realized how practical it could be. You're right -- it's better than stairs! (Although of course it's not as easy as making a stack.)

There is no moral dilemma using hacks, Upon using it, yes people may question you for it but simple explaining what it is revealing it to be a simple by product of notches coding they'll be fine with it..
I'm glad most people agree with me on this one, because I think it's too powerful of a glitch to just ignore. I'll probably try to promote it as much as I can, mostly because I just want to share it but also because I'm hoping Notch will eventually find out. And when he does, I want him to know I'm the one that found it. In all honesty, I waited quite a while before making the video because I was hoping I'd see Notch on the IRC and I'd be able to tell him. He's just too hard to contact sometimes. Hopefully with the proper amount of public awareness, he'll eventually hear about it from some other source. With something this big, he might even decide to accomodate bug reports instead of shunning them. Til then, I'll be walking the clouds.
After all, glitching isn't lame anyway. It's about screwing the rules and kicking reason to the curb, doing the impossible and fighting the power! Mine is the glitch that pierces the heavens! WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!
(+5 bonus points for getting the reference)
hmm, I cant say I see too much of a problem in using this for creative mode.
However glitches and exploits have a bad tendency to cause a divide in a community and can seriously hurt a game in the long run.
Take Gunz: the duel as an example. There are many glitches that allow players to do things like attack and move at the same time, or climb high walls that a player would not normally be able to. As it stands now, it's very difficult for a new player to have fun in an average game because of widespread glitch abusing and often players will get cussed out and driven off if they don't know how to use the glitches and try to play the game the way it was meant to be played. Though this is in part due to the attitude of the community itself.
Now I really don't think this particular glitch will cause that much discord and chaos, but I'm wary of the mindset that glitchers breed.
Also, whatever you may be able do with this glitch can be done faster and easier by using legitimate means. So really it seems a bit useless.
I mean why do this every time you want to get to the next floor in your house when you can build a staircase once and be done with it?
I really hope that notch fixes this once he sees it.

You heard that, green and red.

theres a difference between a hack, and an exploit. exploits, are unseen flaws in the code, that give you some sort of advantage.
im mr hack. im a bad fellow. dont hang aorund me.
im mr exploit! somebody missed a patch in the code! used me to your advantage! 8-)
