I do only because it makes creations easier to complete. Although I will refuse to use them on multiplayer indev.
Notch is working on making indev/infdev hacks impossible anyway. Probably something that senses if you are moving super fast, or running through air, and kicks you for it.

Though I'm sure anyone with half a brain can crack it.

There are 10 kinds of people who understand binary.
Those who do.
And those that don't.

Is it even possible to crack a system like that. I can see someone bypassing a blocked client, but if it boots you just for running fast...
I tried it for a while. I was able to create something in a few hours that would have taken days or more than 1 person. After that I decided to go back to regular building.
Building is only half the fun for me. The other half comes from teamwork and deciding how to build scaffolding and other things.
People who don't use hacks get praised for their mass creations, end result: It's a moderators tool to me, and nothing more and i will use it strictly for that unless i'm really bored on my server.
I was banned for hacking on a server after placing a block and resetting to original position at the same time.
GOOD JOB ANTIHACK.
Secondly I use hacks when I'm done with something and want to enhance gameplay, usually by godmode and going for a lava swim or spawning an endless amount of mobs somehow.
Stuff like that. Also to help people, I think... seeing it's kind of an evil thing and I help people doing it.
Oh, I also use it when the game cheats or bugs out on me somehow, like spawning a mob right behind me or making stuff disappear without a reason, like chest inventories.
I am not against hax, I don't use them and in fact cannot use them because I am running ubuntu. Even so, I probably wouldn't use them often because it feels strange jumping.
I hack because I know I could build without them. I just don't feel like it. To me, the end product is what is important. I don't find the slowed down process of building without hacks fun. This does not apply to indev, because I find the gathering process, the crafting and smelting and tools and so forth to be fun. But in creative mode I am not playing a game, I am making art. I could use my fingers to make a masterpiece, by being very careful and working very slowly. But I'd rather use a brush, it's more efficient.
I think that building without haxs gives a bigger sense of pride and accomplishment
I use hacks because this is not true. I get pride over a finished construction. Using three hours to make a lame ass tower means nothing to me. No emotional connection. I just feel like I've wasted time if I don't build something to my standards. Hacks allow me to make good-quality constructions without wasting several days on it. Not to mention it allows me to see a server and what the condition of the builders/moderators are before I begin to build there. I don't want to walk around for twenty minutes looking up at crap I can't see to ultimately decide that the server is crappy and move on.
I can see why people would get some satisfaction out of the building process, but I feel that satisfaction will be had in survival mode. In creative all bets are off. It is for making the best things I can and enjoying them in their completion.
I don't hack because I feel more fulfilled by making cool things without them. I feel like I've put more effort into it and that the product then has an intangible essence of accomplishment added to it. A person who does hack has every right to disagree with me, but this is my standpoint on the matter.
I mean, it's possible in Indev/Infdev to hack the amount of bricks you have, would you hack that so that you would have infinite stone to build a castle? I mean, you'd just be wasting time mining the stones anyway.
And yeah, I agree with A.I. though sometimes I just get a bit tired of repeating the same things over and over and over again. Even mining for iron can sometimes bore someone, despite the chance that every next block that appears could be a cave with diamond, gold, a mob, water or lava. (Or only Gold or Diamond in Infdev)
Because survival has a different point than creative. Creative mode is just that: A mode where you don't have restrictions in order to make something creative. It is a place where all you need to worry about is "How do I want this to look?" Survival mode is much different as it actually has restrictions placed upon you. It is a different gamemode with different goals. One could hack for unlimited health and blocks, but then it would just be creative mode. Survival is about overcoming the challenges presented before you in order to build. When I want to spend a lot of time fending off monsters and pouring my digital blood(And non-digital sweat and tears) into humble yet useful constructions then I play survival. When I want to make a huge **** all tower then I'll use creative mode.
I don't hack because I don't trust the general minecraft community(due to the griefers in it), and I don't wish to be a hypocrite. That and my hacks are from like July 09 or something.

I disagree with you, therefore you are wrong.
Quality of output = Skill * Effort
If I see a cool thing in creative, and I rated it 75/100 with hacks, I would rate it much higher without. I don't look down upon builds with hacks, but rather look up at ones without. I remember one person saying that "building without hacks is like playing with legos using your feet". If the person using their hands made a tall skyscraper, and the feet person make a little box house, they both put in the same effort. However, if the person using their feet made the same skyscraper, they are good. Which skyscraper would seem better to you?
My point is that hacks don't take anything away from a building. Non hackers are simply above that average. I also don't use them because I am too lazy to get them.

I already have an idea on how to do it, I'm not going to say it though

This, pretty much.
This.
Nothing against them, but without hacks, I find buildings cool.
